Report Summary and Teacher Comments:
Traven has been an active and enthusiastic participant in the class. He has worked hard and progressed well.
His writing is his weakest skill, with a few inaccuracies that do not impede understanding. He needs to apply himself to the essay questions more directly and avoid general description which does not clearly answer the question, and he could work on the structure of his essays to make them easier to follow. His timed writing was better and answered the question more clearly.
His speech is very good - his pronunciation is clear and fluent and he articulates well. His presentation was well delivered. He contributed willingly and intelligently to both small group and open class discussion.
In his reading he is capable of identifying the main ideas and arguments from a text and critically analysing them.
Traven has generally shown good comprehension of the gist and the details of academic listening exercises, although has struggled slightly when the material has been more challenging. He participates well in discussions following listening exercises. I recommend that in order to enhance his listening skills, he take more extensive and detailed notes in order to record more specific details.
Traven has been a pleasure to teach and I wish him all the best for his future study. He is ready to begin postgraduate study with English language and departmental support.
