敗敗敗敗～四連敗！

最近失心瘋，卯起來敗家 @@
首先是 GNC-35，台製 Nikon 單眼 GPS 套件，純粹是懶得把照片 EXIF 手動加上 GPS 座標，所以就衝了一顆；Nikon D700 可用。

再來是 Jot，這隻長相怪異的 iPad 觸控筆，沒想到竟然出奇的好寫！這隻要大推給有使用 iPad 當記事本的人！可惜，這隻 Made in Taiwan 的觸控筆竟然不在台灣販賣、得繞一大圈從官網訂購（雖然運費才 USD 1.5）

第三發則是無意間在日本 Apple Store 發現的小東西：Mobee, The Magic Charger。這玩意可以利用電磁方式，無線的對水果幫的 Magic Mouse 充電！當然前提是要使用它的專用電池～即便如此，因為實在沒看過這玩意＋無線充電很眩，所以就這樣帶回來了！

最後，因為咱家 Mondeo 原廠胎，三萬多公里之後磨平了，所以一不做二不休的連原廠框一起換！找了好久、跑了好多家汽車用品店，總算是給我找到一咖不是那麼貴、也不是那麼滿街跑的輪框，配上米其林的 PS3（Michelin 235/40/R18）目前為止的心得：PS3 果然比原廠胎安靜很多！至於抓地力雖然還沒親身驗證，不過網路上已經有太多先進對這條胎讚不絕口，所以應該沒問題！現在只希望它可以比原廠的 RE050A 耐磨一些....

高貴的 TF101

買沒幾天的 TF101 鍵盤，Backspace 卡勾掛了：

這個 Backspace 用沒幾次耶～機構件就這樣斷裂

想當然爾，這種「損壞」送到維修中心一定會被判定是「人為因素」所以不予保固。話說鍵盤至少也得要保證每個鍵可以敲多少次的使用壽命保證吧？像這種卡勾斷裂難道不能歸咎於該塑料件不良嗎？

不過說實在話，這種損壞被判定為人為不當使用所造成我也認了，就看多少錢可以把這玩意修復吧！於是買不到一個禮拜的鍵盤，就放在維修中心，等判定跟報價。

第四天總算打電話來了：
「....（省略）所以維修報價是新台幣一千八百五十元....」
「....請你們把鍵盤寄還給我，不要修了」

喵的！一個機構件跟我收 1850？！

華碩變形金剛 EEE PAD TF101

最近失心瘋，敗家拜的兇！這次是趕搭平板熱，入手 Asus TF101 變形金剛。

在家裡很習慣用 iPhone 上網看網頁，不過久了總覺得 3.5" 的畫面看起來實在很吃力，所以就動起了平板電腦的主意了。

手上一堆 iOS / OSX 設備，本來「理所當然」應該要入手 iPad、讓蘋果一家人團圓的；可惜這個購物衝動的癮頭來的不是時候，現在正逢台灣 iPad1 部份產品停產＋iPad2 每個禮拜五都「傳聞」要上市這個青黃不接的時間，所以只好放棄 iOS、改往 Android 這個小綠人的陣營去。（話說，下禮拜應該還有一篇開箱....）

16GB＋Docking 全光華死豬價，看來雙 A 這次平板價格操作手法向 Apple 看齊了

網路上很多先賢先烈已經陸續將幾台 Android 平板的優缺點公佈出來，所以並沒有花太多的時間就決定要下手 TF101（consumer behaviour 是 Internet community + word of mouth XD）

鍵盤對用慣 Air 的我來講有點小

使用心得

如果是以「筆電」的角度來看 TF101，輕薄短小、開機迅速、待機與使用時間長是它的優點。在這個角度下使用者具備了基本的電腦操作知識，所以比較容易上手。會這麼說的原因是因為在入手的當天晚上想用 Android Market 下載一些免費軟體，但是卻一直出現下載錯誤（而且明明是選擇繁體中文的操作界面，為啥錯誤訊息是英文的），搜尋過網路之後才知道原來問題出在 Gtalk 認證失敗，所以即便一開始設定 Gmail 帳號登入成功，Android Market 就是沒辦法下載；解決的辦法很簡單，把 Gtalk 與 Android Market 的暫存清掉、重新開機、重新認證一次 Gtalk 就好了！

誰知道 Gtalk 會影響到 Android Market 下載？

總體來說這是一部方便使用的平板，期待 Gpad 可以更直覺～

Tokina AT-X PRO II 28-70mm 1:2.6-2.8（好長的名字....）

這隻已經停產很久的鏡頭，主要是看上它的「內變焦」還有高到破表的 CP 值，不過這也代表品項優的二手實在很難找阿！

「內變焦」加上「恆定光圈」，即便是當今的 N24-70 都沒有阿！

D80 時代因為 18-200 VR 實在太好用，所以陸續入手幾顆二手鏡都是以定焦鏡為主，像是 20 f2.8，35 f2，50 f1.8 還有最近「不小心」入手的 105 f2.8 VR；自從入手 D700 之後，便一直靠這幾顆頭（尤其是 105）在拍 Heidi，不過定焦鏡碰上跑來跑去的小孩子有時候真的有點吃力，所以最近一直在找一支輕便的變焦鏡用來打小孩（這個理由鋪陳的好囉唆....）

剛好上個月底表妹訂婚，趁這個機會去租了 N24-70 來玩玩。這顆在各方面表現都相當良好：超音波馬達對焦安靜又迅速、最大光圈就是可用光圈、發色個人覺得偏濃但是相當討喜；不過對我來說缺點就是太重太貴了！當天拍了兩三個小時下來都快要五十肩了＠＠，如果有買這隻鏡頭可能會一直待在防潮箱吧！（話說租鏡頭的老闆說他手上那隻就住那）

這種飛過來搶過去的喜宴場合對我來說實在是地獄，所以放一張意思一下就好（N24-70 @ 27mm, f2.8）

既然神兵利器在我手上都拍成 KIT，那也樂得把小朋友們關在銀行繼續當童工，可是基於第二段的理由，還是需要一管變焦鏡阿！於是開始把目標放在 FX 可用的鏡頭，第一想到的就是 N28-300 VR 這顆新旅遊鏡；在上上次 Joseph 回台探親的時候拿來玩了一下～這顆也不輕耶！雖然焦段很方便，但是我怕扛不動哩....先放觀察名單好了。

既然新一代鏡頭買不起，那往回找前一代應該比較容易吧！這隻 N24-70 前身應該算是 N28-70 那隻了，正在開心可以用一半預算拿到恆定 f2.8 的人像鏡的這個摩門～蛤！這隻的前置超音波對焦馬達很容易故障！整個對焦模組送修將近要一萬五？！（掉頭）

接下來輪到 N24-120 VR。發現新的恆定 f4 版本價位也是高得嚇人！（這個時候開始有點後悔沒事幹麻買 FX，鏡頭都貴的要死）只好轉往它的前一代：N24-120 VR f3.5-5.6。這管網路上很多先進因為要換新版本所以二手還不難找，價位也很適合我的口袋（找到一支還不錯的只要 NTD 8500）心想：「反正縮光圈＋高 ISO 還是可以維持快門」好！加入追蹤名單！

某天逛攝影網站無意間發現有隻已經停產的鏡頭很特別，除了恆定光圈以外，它竟然是內變焦？！連五萬多塊錢的 N24-70 變焦都還會伸頭耶！這隻已經停產的老傢伙竟然有這「特異功能」！這得好好研究一下究竟是何方神聖～

相關的歷史讓 Google 來回答，這邊講再多也沒有大神仔細，所以篇幅就省下來~~、繼續廢話~~。總之，看過網路上各家人馬的使用心得之後，真是越看越心動、越想越衝動....@@ 沒有！二手區找不到！網拍也找不到！漢博區也找不到！

廢文走到「轉」的段落，總是需要一隻黑貓叼垃圾回家裡樓梯間、或者走在路上頭一暈手中多一袋莫名其妙塑膠袋的老梗來接；很遺憾，以上老梗只限定搭配新品才有功效，碰上絕版品甚麼阿貓阿狗的都敵不過某位善心人士因為某種原因把絕版品 PO 在二手區來的有用！就像上次遇到已經絕版的 N105 VR macro MIJ 一樣，這次遇到的是一位已經跳到 Canon 陣營、想出售手中 Nikon 設備的貴人，賣 D90 + Tokina Pro II，品項極新，可拆賣～

賣家在台南！

老早就想要帶柴莽出去跑一跑了～這一定是土地公的旨意（還沒想到為什麼）不過考量到一身老骨頭，還是坐高鐵下去比較實際阿！五個小時之後，它出現了。

這隻還是公司貨哩！保單上面的購買日期是 2000 年 4 月。以它的年紀來說，這個品項實在太棒了！

心得
以不到 N24-70 五分之一的價格來說，這隻鏡頭的 CP 值確實很高，手持感覺也沒有 N24-70 或 N28-70 那麼重，可能是因為鏡身比較短的關係吧！感覺不出來七百多公克的重量，加上它的發色配上 D700 很合我的胃口，總體而言相當符合我的要求。

缺點就是 28mm@f2.8 有明顯的暗角、以及畫面四周銳利度大減，不過這些缺點在縮到 f4 或 f5.6 都有很明顯的改善。

瑕不掩瑜。

啥？不能自選要同步的 Aperture 相簿？

事情發生在更新完 iOS 4.3.3 以後....原本同步進去 iPhone 的相簿通通不見了！
正當以為是 iTune 設定造成的，好整以暇的把電話連上 Air，打開 iTune....

Holy Shxt！不僅是自選同步相簿的功能被反白，連同步所有相簿的選項都有問題，顯示照片數量是 0！該不會是 Aperture 的相簿被我誤殺了吧！趕緊打開 Aperture 檢查～呼，好在！照片都還在！可是奇怪的是，iTune 就是認不到 Aperture 裡面的相簿，所以也一直沒辦法放照片上去電話裡面，到底是出了啥事咧？

求助了萬能的 Google 大神之後，求得一帖藥方，原來早就有人遇到一樣的問題：
aperture will no longer sync with itunes! Iphone 4, Itunes 10, iOS 4.1

解藥如下

Open iTunes and turn off the synch for pictures with iPhone attached. This should remove photos from iPhone.
Unmount iPhone and quit iTunes
Open Aperture while holding down the Option and Command Keys. This will offer you the opportunity to repair the photo library database. Do so.
After database is rebuilt and Aperture opens, close it down.
Open Finder and locate Aperture Library.
Right click on Aperture Library and click on Show Package Contents
Drag the iPod Photo Cache out of Aperture to Desktop
Resynch iPhone with iTunes. When complete, click on Photos tab and reinstall photos

注意！按住 Command+Option 打開 Aperture 的時候要選 repair database，選 rebuild database 沒有用

實在沒信心用定焦鏡拍訂婚，所以去租了 24-70 f2.8 來衝鋒陷陣

也許是太久沒用變焦鏡頭，在店家試鏡頭的時候先是把對焦環當成變焦環轉，然後又搞不清楚倒底變焦是順時針還是逆時針，摸了半天總算是變焦成功....Orz

短短兩天相處下來的不專業感想：

對焦速度很快
很安靜的超音波馬達
銳利

不過

不是內變焦
鏡身太長太細

這個焦段用來拍日常生活大小事很方便，不過實在是太重了（尤其還配上閃光燈）很慶幸有跟這隻鏡頭相處，開了恆定光圈變焦鏡的眼界，也確定這種組合實在不是我的菜，還是跟手上那幾顆「輕薄短小」的定焦好好相處比較不會有壓力

減法

如果說廣角鏡是加法，那這隻 105 就是減法了～
一直以來都很習慣用廣角拍風景，張力夠，上手容易，保守構圖也不容易出錯，不過拍久了會膩；無意間在網路上看到一篇文章，作者說「其實長焦也可以拍風景」這個想法讓我覺得很新鮮，廣角的加法習慣如果遇到必須要用減法的長焦會變成甚麼樣子？

於是，強迫自己只帶一支 105mm 就出門練習去！

數位照片輕鬆加入 GPS 座標 - 使用 Aperture

話說 MAC 總是留了一手給自家工具，不管是軟硬體，總是可以找到很簡單的方法去取代原本很繁雜的任務，這裡的例子是將數位照片加入 GPS 座標。利用 iPhone4 拍照會加入 GPS 的功能，可以很輕鬆的將座標一併利用 Aperture 匯入 EXIF 內。

配備清單

iPhone4
Aperture

先決條件！由於要利用 iPhone4 的 GPS 資料，所以記得要在該地點用 iPhone4 隨便拍一張照片！這整個流程都要靠這張照片完成！

開始！

第一步，把要加入 GPS 座標資料的圖選起來，按右上角工具列上的 Places

第二步，從 GPS 下拉選單裡點選 Import GPS from iPhone Photos....

第三步，選擇那張當時用 iPhone4 拍的照片（照片本身不會被匯入 Aperture 內）

第四步，Aperture 已經將 GPS 座標匯入

第五步，在座標點上 Two fingers click 叫出選單，選擇 Assign Photos

不小心找到品項超新、價錢合理而且是已經停產的 MIJ，二話不說立刻聯絡賣家！

這顆銳利到被戲稱「照妖鏡」，有機會再來試看看是不是真的有那麼神～可惜最近水貨商打著日本地震財的如意算盤，只好讓原本規劃中的 D700 再等等，先用 D80 玩玩。

散景感覺跟其他短焦鏡不太一樣？

強風中開啟 VR 對抗發抖的手跟花。

目前的小心得：微距手持太辛苦、景深也淺得太不舒服了；還是得上腳架、縮光圈會好一些

Safari 免外掛！一次下載網頁中所有圖片

在 Firefox 裡面有很多有用的 extensions，其中有一個叫做 DownloadThemAll，顧名思義就是把網頁中的圖片或檔案一次抓下來；可惜 Safari 並沒有支援這個好用的外掛，幸好網路上有高手利用幾個簡單的複合鍵解決了這個問題：

Android on iPhone 2G

純粹是因為好玩，在網路上看到一個叫做 iDroid 的 Project，可以讓 Android 跑在它的死對頭 Apple 手機上面！由於安裝過程極度無腦化，加上恰巧手上有一隻 iPhone 一代，就玩玩看吧！

Android 機器人手上拿得是山寨蘋果....

目前 iDroid 支援 iPhone 一代跟 3G 還有 iPod Touch 一代（應該不會有人想把 3Gs 或 4G 改裝成 Android 吧？）並且要已經 JB 過的機器。要讓蘋果跑機器人，首先要先弄一台 Linux 或者 Mac、下載並安裝 OpeniBoot 這個類似多重開機的開機程式；我是在 Vmware Ubuntu 10.10 32bit 裡面完成：

開啟 terminal 並輸入

sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0 libusb-1.0-0-dev libreadline6-dev readline-common libreadline6 libreadline-dev

到 http://idroid.nickpack.com/openiBoot/ 下載裝置對應的 OpeniBoot 映像檔並且解壓縮 openiboot.img3 到桌面
再到 http://idroid.nickpack.com/openiBoot/Tools/ 下載對應作業系統的 OpeniBoot 安裝程式，也解壓縮到桌面（loadibec、oibc）
進入 iPhone restore mode（關機，按住 home 鍵不放，連上 USB cable，一直到 iPhone 出現 " 連結到 itune " 的畫面再把 home 鍵放開）
在 terminal 裡輸入

sudo ./loadibec openiboot.img3
```
輸入完成以後會在 iPhone 上看到 OpeniBoot 的「開機畫面」；用音量鍵選到 console，但是還不要按 home 鍵！
在 terminal 裡輸入以下指令後，也還不要按 enter！
```
sudo ./oibc
```
按 home 鍵進入 iPhone console 模式，等大約 1 至 2 秒（我是等到 iPhone console 顯示出 OpeniBoot 的 banner 以後）再去 terminal 裡面送出步驟 7 的指令
如果順利，會在 iPhone 及 terminal 兩邊同步看到一些指令在跑，等到 terminal 出現 WELCOME TO OPENIBOOT 就表示剛才送出的指令執行成功，可以開始安裝 OpeniBoot 了！（如果失敗，將 USB cable 拔掉，同時按住 power 與 home 鍵數秒就可以讓 iPhone 關機）
在 terminal 裡輸入
install
等指令跑完，顯示 OpeniBoot installation complete 就完成啦！
在 terminal 輸入
reboot

搞定？！嗯....還沒啦！目前為止只是安裝好開機程式，Android 還沒安裝哩！不過接下來的步驟就更簡單更無腦了！

等到 iPhone 重新開機之後，進去 Cydia 加入 http://repo.neonkoala.co.uk 這個 source，然後搜尋 Bootlace 這隻程式，下載安裝後執行它

選到 iDroid 那個分頁，看到那個大大顆的 Install 按鍵？按下去就開始下載並安裝 Android 到 iPhone 上囉！之後就是大概半個小時的下載與安裝，重開機以後從 OpeniBoot 選擇 iDroid 就可以進 Android 啦！

後續：第一段安裝 OpeniBoot 步驟有點繁雜，不過在現行的 Bootlace 裡面已經支援安裝 OpeniBoot 的這個功能了，在官網也有確認不需要電腦、直接用 Bootlace 就可以安裝 OpeniBoot .... 就當作對 Linux 指令的複習好了 ....

1980年得到普立茲獎的史丹佛大學傳播系教授勃林克萊(Joel Brinkley)，上個月應邀前來台灣演講後，對我國印象深刻，今日投書《舊金山紀事報》(San Francisco Chronicle)，發表他的感言。

Taipei, Taiwan — Taiwanese are an educated, prosperous, successful people - riven with complex anxieties they no longer even recognize they have.
柏林克萊發現，台灣人是一群有教養、生命力旺甚而且成功的人士，卻帶著連他們自己都久已無法察覺的焦慮。

Typical of this, the education minister proposed recently that school students sing the national anthem during morning assemblies, just as students do in many schools around the world. Here, though, the proposal set off angry argument. Parents protested, and the opposition political party complained that Taiwanese have nothing to be proud of as long as the nation's sovereignty remains under continual threat from China.
比方說，教育部長要求各校恢復唱國歌，就引起家長的反彈，反對黨也說這首國歌持續被中國打壓，沒有什麼值得好驕傲的。

China, of course, remains determined to bring about Taiwanese "reunification." But Taiwan is a thriving democracy, and almost no one here favors that idea. They don't trust China, even for a minute, and see a dark motive behind everything Beijing does. This 61-year-old conflict animates everything that happens here.
中國當然還是希望能統一台灣，但在台灣這個欣欣向榮的民主社會卻沒什麼人對和中國統一有所青睞。台灣人一點都不信任中國，並且看到北京一舉一動背後的幽暗動機。

Taiwanese also remain afraid of China, even to the point that they sometimes question whether they should wave the Taiwan flag at sporting events. Their diplomats generally refrain from political interaction with other societies. They put on cultural events instead.
勃林克萊說，台灣人還是害怕中國，甚至到了會問自己可不可以在運動賽事上揮舞國旗的地步。他們與其他國家的交流主要是文化活動，鮮少有政治互動。

After years of conflict, the current government is trying another approach: greater commerce with China. This summer, Taipei and Beijing signed a free-trade agreement, the first major cross-straits economic accord.
截然不同於前幾任總統與中國之間的衝突，當前的馬政府改採新的模式：與中國有更多的貿易往來。今年夏天，台北和北京之間簽定了雙方第一個經濟架構協定。

"Negotiations are much more effective than antagonistic relations with the other side," President Ma Ying-jeou averred recently. But Taiwanese also see a subplot. Even Foreign Minister Timothy Chin-tien Yang acknowledged, when pressed in an interview, that China "may want something else" in addition to free trade. Bi Khim Hsiao, director of international affairs for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party, told me that China "isn't using missiles anymore. They're trying to buy us - use economic leverage in a sophisticated way."

Frankly, I agree with her. Even now, six decades after Chinese nationalists fled to Taiwan during the Communist revolution, China remains utterly obsessed with this place. It parades around the world doling out billions in financial aid - as long as recipients agree to Beijing's "one China" policy, meaning that Taiwan is actually part of China. As a result, Taiwan is able to maintain embassies in only 23 nations. Honduras is the largest. Right now, China is trying to peel away the Dominican Republic with an offer of copious aid.
勃林克萊說，他同意蕭美琴的說法。國民黨逃來台灣60年了，中國對此地依然垂涎不已。中國在全世界各地灑錢，只要對方同意北京的「一個中國政策」，認定台灣是中國的一個部分，中國就願意提供鉅額資助。結果台灣只能勉強維持住23個邦交國，個個是小國。此際，中國正藉由提供多明尼加共和國優厚的資助，將該國從台灣身邊拉攏過來。

What's ambiguous about that?
這可真是曖昧啊！

For decades, the two sides never even spoke to each other. Once, 14 years ago, China fired unarmed missiles at the island, just to scare the people. Now, China has changed tactics. It is sending hundreds of thousands of tourists to Taiwan and as many as 2,000 students to Taiwanese universities.

上次敗了 Just Mobile 的車架以後實在是讚不絕口，所以最近因為特價的關係，又敗了這家公司設計的東西，這次是外接電池。

簡單的說，就是一顆 4400mAh 的充電電池，雖然在包裝上是寫 Made for iPod / iPhone（因為內付一條被閹割過、長相與同步線相同但是只能拿來充電的同步線）不過因為放電的插槽是標準的 USB slot，所以只要是用 USB 充電的裝置，都可以用這顆電池哩！以後出門在外就不怕手機突然沒電了！（如果這顆電池可以用太陽能充電就更完美了....）

車架嘛！有啥了不起的？光華商場隨便可以找上一堆！無奈這種芝麻蒜皮鼻屎大的小事，遇到我這種~~愛敗家~~無敵龜毛的人，就會被複雜化了....

一個兩三百塊錢的 Peripower 機械手臂車架不就搞定了嗎？否！

問題出在哪？問題就出在....那個吸盤阿阿阿阿阿阿（迴音～）

....通常來說，只要電源線往點煙器一插、將底座用吸盤吸在前檔上就可以開車上路啦！不過在研究過阿宅網上面各路高手的安裝心得之後，龜毛個性的我決定了兩個安裝原則：為了避免吸盤在前檔上留下「吻痕」，絕對不使用附贈的吸盤底座當作固定架....（行車記錄器跟佈線與安裝過程紀錄，2010）

這是阿宅我的堅持！XD

就在這種莫名其妙的堅持下，找到了一個目前為止覺得算是完美的解決辦法，就是今天的主角：Just Mobile Xtand Go。這是一家在台中的台灣公司，曾經在挑選適合 iPhone4 保護殼的時候，在 Youth 光華看到它的其他產品，極簡的金屬設計風格一整個就是對蘋果、也對我的胃口。

包裝上面特別註明 iPhone 3GS/3G，那 iPhone4 咧？

一開始以為這個車架跟我無緣；一直到了某天在某拍賣網站上面看到賣家拿來夾 iPhone4 的照片之後，無意識連上網購，然後就是郵差來按鈴的老梗之類的，包裹就出現在桌上了....

怎麼覺得很眼熟？很像那個德國雙人牌、專門做刀具的那家公司的 logo？

一張說明書，一個三層、很神秘的車架本體，萬惡的吸盤，還有不具名的附件及雙面膠

拉近一點看，那個圓柱狀的本體可以依照不同情況折成任何想要的角度喔！

像這樣！

車架再神奇，如果沒辦法好好的抓住 iPhone4，那也只是個充滿設計感的垃圾！這種 X 字型的支撐座，原始設計是依照 iPhone 的尺寸量身打造；但是這「裸裝」的 iPhone 並不符合咱們臺灣人對於使用「貴重手機」的習慣，問題就出在於：當 iPhone4 加上保護殼以後，是不是還可以牢牢的扣住？還是根本塞不進去？

開箱：蘋果第四代智慧型手機

好久沒寫開箱文了，實在是因為懶惰要照顧小 Heidi 所以沒時間阿！要看開箱文去阿宅網就好，一堆神人 PO 的開箱文根本就是專業水準！我們這種沒有小型攝影棚的遜咖實在是沒臉跟人家湊熱鬧....為了「家醜」不外揚，所以把文章標題「全中文化」，這樣被 Google 找到的機率應該也比較低吧？

話說約莫兩年前左右入手了一代蘋果以後（請見：我的第一顆蘋果），就被當時罕見的電容式觸控螢幕給毒害到，從那時候就對這個邪惡水果攤深深著迷～之後水果攤賣的 3G 與 3Gs，因為背蓋設計不合口味，所以即便手上的一代只能支援龜速 GPRS，還是拿來用得很開心！一直到網路上有第四代間諜照出現....

第二與第三代因為被蓋材質與設計不合口味，個人判定出局！

第四代方方正正的設計，金屬材質的邊框，加上那片誘人、號稱「視網膜震撼」的螢幕等等，水果攤這次這招打得我是舉雙手投降，不管怎樣也是要弄到手！所以就出現了上一篇、遠渡重洋的刷卡敗家行為....

一時失心瘋的上去線上水果攤一刷就是兩隻 32GB @@"

就在期待遠在倫敦的 Chris 帶著我的水果回來的這個摩門，台灣也開賣了！這個消息讓原本不是很急著入手的我變成熱鍋螞蟻！就在盯著阿宅網水果分類廣告幾天之後....

惡魔：「打電話去問問電信公司吧！阿宅網裡面的神人們說不用預約耶！門市就有現貨可以帶走說！老客戶還可以免預繳哩」

專員：「先生很抱歉喔！因為您之前的合約要到明年五月才到期，公司規定只有合約到期六個月內的客戶才可以前續約，並且享有老客戶免預繳的優惠喔！等到今年的十一月一日就可以到門市續約並且辦理手機了。」

奧客：「我現在非常需要這隻手機，可以請你們想想辦法嗎？」

專員：「這樣阿？那請等一下，我問問我們主管看看....」

專員：「先生實在是不好意思！因為會同時使用到兩種優惠（提前續約＋老客戶免預繳），依照規定是不能這樣做的」

如果是以前，通常講到這邊我就摸摸鼻子放棄繼續「協商」，不過這次因為中毒太過嚴重，所以打算維持奧客的身份，繼續跟跟客服專員盧下去....

奧客：「我理解你們的規定，但是我相信這裡面一定有彈性空間可以討論；況且我就只差這一個月就可以符合資格，可以麻煩你在跟你們內部討論看看，有沒有個案處理的可能性？」

專員：「那請您在稍等一下，我再跟我們主管談看看」

專員：「我們主管說可以當作個案處理，所以您可以提前續約，並且享有老客戶免預繳的雙重優惠！請問您要到那一間門市辦理？要 16GB 還是 32GB？我先幫您打電話去預留一隻手機....」

正所謂「會吵的小還有糖吃」，會盧的奧客也有水果買！就這樣，桌上出現了第三顆水果！

這幾天趁 Heidi 睡著以後玩了一下，由於硬體規格跟一代高出太多，爽度也是倍增阿！

其實這麼急著入手的原因，有一部分是因為要申請免費的保護套。還記得我買了兩隻英國版的果四代嗎？在今年九月底之前買的水果，水果攤老闆都會送塑膠袋給你裝；不過這個叫史堤夫的老闆不是很老實，在全球矚目的「天線門」大會上直接說其他攤子的青菜也會「爆漿」也就算了，要送個塑膠袋還囉哩囉唆的一定下載特定軟體到電話上面，再透過網路才能申請！小氣老闆這麼做，而不是隨機器出貨大概是考量到有些人懶得申請或者根本不會申請，這樣他塑膠袋能省一個是一個吧！小氣鬼！

由於一隻手機只能申請一個塑膠袋，所以只有一隻手機的我就被老闆凹掉一個了....

俗話說「限量是殘酷的」，絕版更是銷魂阿！水果攤老闆大概是因為生意太好，所以免費送塑膠袋的這個活動突然就被取消，讓我這個奧客更是非要拿到不可！所以台灣版到手的第一件事就是上網申請去！原本以為只有一種形式可以選，沒想到....

今夜の注文はとつち？

天人交戰後，選了 Belkin Shield Micra Clear

英國那邊搞定了，台灣這邊則是挑了一個看起來跟 Belkin 很像的 SwitchEasy UltraClear。迷辦華，這美背設計不穿件透明的衣服怎麼會搭呢？不過入手之後才發現這件衣服似乎不太防括....可能一下子就會被我換掉了吧！

附贈的亮面保護貼更是失敗！

行車記錄器跟佈線與安裝過程紀錄

一直以來都覺得在台灣開車是一種冒險：不管是路上橫衝直撞的自用車、巷口突然衝出來的歐巴桑摩托車，就連道路路面本身就是一種挑戰！一個路口號誌燈上監視器六七隻，但是卻又常常在「重要時刻」發現不是壞掉、就是剛好事發那段時間監視器被外星人綁架，「很不巧」的沒有錄到畫面....大概也因為如此，讓台灣的駕駛人開始起了「自保」的念頭，於是「行車記錄器」這個東西也就越來越流行。

最近在某不肖前同事的鼓吹之下，也趕流行的敗了一台行車記錄器（開箱文請搜尋 HD DVR 行車記錄器）。通常來說，只要電源線往點煙器一插、將底座用吸盤吸在前檔上就可以開車上路啦！不過在研究過阿宅網上面各路高手的安裝心得之後，龜毛個性的我決定了兩個安裝原則：

為了避免吸盤在前檔上留下「吻痕」，絕對不使用附贈的吸盤底座當作固定架。
為了整體車內美觀，點煙器電源線能多藏一公分就絕對不會讓它露在外面。

第二點相對比較簡單，心想回 Ford 原廠請技師幫我把中控拆掉、牽線走手套箱下部，再經由 A 柱繞到後視鏡上方就搞定....沒想到光是這樣就搞掉一個上午....雖然中間遇到一些預料之外的困難，不過還是多謝內湖億和廠吳技師的協助，不僅讓整個繞線工程完工，甚至還幫我把延長的點煙頭插座整個隱藏在副駕駛座旁的飾版內，讓整個走線施工只剩下插頭的部份是外露的。

在拉電源之前其實有個小插曲。一般來說拉這種 12V 電源的最簡單方式就是從保險絲盒接個電源過來就好了；偏偏咱這台 Mondeo 的設計不允許使用者這麼作；而且還有一個很大很大的「特性」：除了一個專門設計給 HUD 抬頭顯示器用的 12V 接點會隨著電門開關一起動作以外，其他的電源都不會在電門關閉後就立刻斷電！就連點煙器這種電源，都必需要等電門關閉後 15 分鐘才會斷電！搞得吳技師要開始施工前打電話問我說「你確定要這樣作嗎？這樣接下去電瓶應該很快就沒電了」

牽電源線的問題，雖然不如預期的順利，但是卻也有超出期待的結果，這樣更加深了我一定要把機器架設的更完美的念頭。不過，要怎麼讓機器在不用吸盤座的前提下牢牢固定在後視鏡的後面，老實說，實在是不知道該怎麼作....一直到 M01 上看到一位大大的作法，讓我恍然大悟：阿！原來還有這種東西阿！

M01 上面也是有神人不希望讓吸盤車架在前檔上留下痕跡，所以就利用這個自行車車架組那條固定用的橡膠帶，捆在後視鏡的支架上；雖然這位大大說他的橡膠帶在使用過一個禮拜以後就斷裂，現在是改用 3M 膠帶固定，不過他的這篇開箱文讓我決定也來試試這個車架組的效果如何，馬上就上了 PC 的家訂了一組回來試試。

藉機會稱讚一下 PC 的家的 24 HR 購物，當晚下單隔天早上包裹就送到辦公室了。東西到手了，不過要怎麼讓我的行車記錄器跟這個車架結合咧？依稀記得這位神人大大的方式是把整個車架夾手機的部份、連同後面的那個球形頭的支架（該怎麼稱呼阿？）一起拆下，另外接上螺絲，然後鎖在行車記錄器機身上的腳架孔。

正覺得快要完成的時候發現，這個車架的球形頭的直徑，比行車記錄器的吸盤車架上的球大！喵的！這樣不就裝不上去了嗎？難道到這裡就要殘念收場了嗎....就在萬念俱灰、想要在另找方法的這個摩門....嗯？直接把行車記錄器夾在那個夾具上不就解決的嗎？

目前為止整個安裝方式還算滿意，不過還有一點點的美中不足。從最後一張駕駛座的那張圖可以看出來，雖然不至於擋到太多的視角，不過有一坨黑黑的玩意擋路還是會讓爽度下降的，所以接下來的任務就是怎麼讓這台行車記錄器真正的消失在我的後視鏡後面....到時候才能算是真正的完美安裝阿阿阿阿阿阿阿（握拳）

最後的最後，還是希望所有駕駛人都可以把平時排隊禮讓的精神也帶上車，多一分禮讓可以讓大家行車更順暢（搞得像在呼口號一樣）行車記錄器永遠都用不上！

那台曾經陪我上山下海的老天王星，在今年的清明節因為不小心忘記檢查水箱，在西濱公路八里往竹圍的高架上倒下了。

今年清明因為 Heidi 還小，所以並沒有跟我回去鹿港，而是跟著 Ada 還有阿母去八里；沒想到老 ET 在回程的路上出了狀況，顧路在西濱工路上。因為天色昏暗，加上快速道路的車聲讓剛滿三個月的 Heidi 哭成淚娃，不管她阿母還是阿嬤怎麼安撫就是沒有辦法讓她停止哭鬧；偏偏故障的地點又很偏僻，花了將近三十分鐘道路救援才趕到現場，心急又心痛的阿母在拖困之後很生氣的說「以後沒有新車不要讓小 Heidi 坐！」就這樣，讓我原本的換車計畫硬是提前了好幾年 (bye bye, Audi Q5....)

好幾年前就很想買 SUV 的我，一開始也是朝著這個方向去找車，不過考慮到油價的高漲，平均每個禮拜都要至少加一次油的我衡量之後還是放棄了這個想法。畢竟，假如連開 Toyota Altis 的油耗都讓我覺得沈重，那換成更大更重的 SUV 之後可能只會擺在車庫拜....

我都笑說台灣阿宅很幸福：因為不管想買什麼東西，都有一個網站提供取之不盡、用之不拮的各式開箱文！相對的，這個網站也考驗著阿宅們的口袋深度；而我這次則是被它狠狠的把原本就不大的荷包整個搶走....這是個人紀錄中，被這個阿宅網影響的最大單筆消費了！

就這樣，昨天車庫裡放了一台 Ford new Mondeo TDCi，這款在台生產的歐洲調，將再陪我下一個 17 年！

從晚上七點多從家裡出發前往診所，到 22:11 Ada 完成準備手續進入手術室、22:42 在手術室門外聽到 Heidi 的第一個哭聲；2010 年 1 月 4 日這一天當了新手阿爸，也從這一刻起就註定了要為妳擔心煩惱一輩子。

我自認不是一個喜歡小孩子的人，總覺得小孩子很吵、很麻煩、講理講不聽、怕學壞、不唸書變笨蛋....所以其實在 Ada 懷孕初期的心態是擔心大過期待：擔心的是小孩子的到來會打亂原本的生活、擔心以後的時間會被綁死、擔心原本打算的計畫會被迫放棄....

隨著陪 Ada 產檢，一張張的超音波照片默默的改變了原本很抗拒的心態。一樣是很擔心，不過角度從自己變成了小孩子身上，開始會擔心沒有能力把小孩子養好、擔心小孩子未來的教育問題、擔心....

記得這時候還沒辦法知道性別，不過 Ada 說她某天晚上夢到有個小男生跑來我們的床腳在玩棉被，或許是因為我是獨生子的關係，Ada 是很希望能夠生個小男生（還是媽媽都比較喜歡生兒子？），不過我那時候隱隱約約的希望是個女兒....

這算是第一次看到 Heidi 的長相，雖然這時候還是沒有完全成型，不過已經可以確認性別是女生了！我還記得這是我第一次在看超音波的時候發自內心的笑了出來～

因為 Ada 的羊水偏少，所以懷孕後期母女倆其實都不是很舒服，而且 Ada 也因為 Heidi 雙腳水腫的很厲害，幾乎到了沒有辦法走路的狀況；最後一個月心跳血壓升高、呼吸急促、乾咳，爛公司對產假刁三阻四的，一直到 Ada 差點在公司暈倒才願意讓她請假（也不是很甘願）～那時候母女倆真的很辛苦阿！

Heidi 出生的第一晚，我們並沒有跟小孩子見到面。那時候我們兩個都還沒有已經當父母的感覺，或者說感覺並沒有那麼強烈；一直到隔天早上看到 Heidi 睡在醫院的育嬰室，那種感覺真的很奇妙～以前那個很抗拒小孩子的我，很清楚的感覺到自己的心態有很大的轉變，難怪老一輩的人會說：「自己的小孩子就是跟別人的不一樣。」

真的不一樣！

Flaws mean Chen verdict violates the Constitution

Judicial power comes from the idea that sovereignty rests with the people and that courts must uphold the right to institute legal proceedings. Judges are guardians of the public’s rights and should abide by the Constitution and the law to protect the public’s rights. Decisions based on violations of legal procedure are illegitimate. The verdict in former president Chen Shui-bian’s corruption trial is therefore invalid, violating constitutional articles 80 and 16 and constitutional interpretation No. 530.
The legal principle of a “legally competent judge” is at the heart of Article 80, which prescribes a basis for ensuring a fair court. The concept of a legally competent judge is key to ensuring fairness when implementing Article 16, which ensures the right to institute legal proceedings as stated in articles 80 and 16 and in constitutional interpretation No. 530. Presiding Judge Tsai Shou-hsun was not a legally competent judge for the Chen case.

The verdict also violates constitutional Article 8 and constitutional interpretations No. 384 and 392. Article 8 states that “no person shall be tried or punished otherwise than by a law court in accordance with the procedure prescribed by law.”

The term “competent court” referred to in constitutional interpretations No. 384 and 392 refers to a “tribunal composed of a judge or a panel of judges empowered to try cases.”

Legally competent judges can hear trials. However, Tsai was replaced by his superiors during the Chen trial and lacked the judicial power to preside over the case and the power to detain him.

The verdict also breaches constitutional interpretation No. 653. Constitutional Article 16 protects the right to institute legal proceedings. Citizens have the right to request a fair trial based on legitimate legal procedures, and no one should be deprived of this. These principles are explained in constitutional interpretation No. 653. While Chen is a former president, his guarantees to legitimate legal procedure and the right of personal freedom should be the same as any other citizen’s and may not be ignored or made stricter for him.

Additionally, the verdict violates Article 6 of the Code of Criminal Procedure that lists regulations for combining cases subject to the jurisdiction of several courts at the same level under one court. Based on the spirit of these regulations, cases in courts at the same level can be combined only following a ruling to this end. The change of judge during Chen’s trial was not based on such a ruling and breached the law.

Moreover, the verdict violates constitutional articles 78, 171, 172 and 173; Article 5, Paragraph 4 of the Additional Articles to the Constitution; and constitutional interpretations Nos. 371, 572 and 590. Consolidated trials are aimed at preventing disagreements over decisions and making proceedings more economical, but are mostly the result of the accused agreeing to a consolidated trial. If the accused disagrees, he must not be deprived of his right to a legally competent judge.

In terms of disputes over the constitutionality of a case, judges should actively seek and wait for a constitutional interpretation instead of relying on their own opinions to determine whether something is unconstitutional.

Finally, the verdict violates constitutional interpretation No. 418, which states: “Article 16 of the Constitution guarantees the people the right to bring a lawsuit and the intent is to ensure that the people have the right to initiate lawsuits in accordance with the legal procedures and the right to a fair trial.”

Justice is not just about someone being pronounced guilty or not guilty — proper procedures should be followed and upheld.

法官的審判權源自「主權在民」，法院是為了維護人民訴訟權而存在，法官身為人民權利守護神，自應守憲守法、捍衛人民權利。違反正當法律程序作成的「無效裁判」，自不具實質正當性，對任何人均不生羈束力。扁案判決自始當然無效。
（一）違反憲法第八十條、第十六條及司法院釋字第五三○號
我國憲法第八十條審判獨立在建構公平法院，「法定法官原則」為其核心價值，並在落實憲法第十六條訴訟權之保障，「法定法官」為實現公平正義之鑰，為我國憲法第八十條、第十六條及司法院釋字第五三○號所明定。蔡守訓合議庭並非扁案「法定法官」，無權審理扁案。
（二）違反憲法第八條及司法院釋字第三八四、三九二號
憲法第八條明定，人民非由法院依法定程序不得審問處罰。所謂「法院」，當指有審判權之法官所構成之獨任或合議之法院（司法院釋字第三八四號、第三九二號參照）。「法定法官」乃能依法對人民審問處罰，蔡守訓合議庭為「簽呈法官」，對扁案既無審理權責，更無羈押權，扁案判決自始、當然無效。
（三）違反司法院釋字第六五三號
憲法第十六條保障人民訴訟權，係指人民有權利請求依正當法律程序公正審判，不得因身分不同而予以剝奪，亦據司法院釋字第六五三號解釋理由書闡明。阿扁雖貴為前總統，其正當法律程序及人身自由權之保障，與一般人民應相互平等，不容漠視或更加（相對）嚴苛。
（四）違反刑事訴訟法第六條
刑事訴訟法第六條係針對數同級法院相牽連案件合併管轄之規定，依其精神，同一法院相牽連案件固得合併由其中一法官合併審判，惟其合併均須以裁定移併，扁案換法官未以「裁定」移併，自屬違法。
（五）違反憲法第七十八條、第一七一條、第一七二條、第一七三條、憲法增修條文第五條第四項及司法院釋字第三七一、五七二、五九○號
合併審判固在防杜裁判歧異並顧及訴訟經濟，惟多係出於被告對於合併審判無爭議之情況下為之，被告若堅執抗議，其「法定法官權利不可被剝奪」。
法官審理具體個案，發生違憲爭議，應積極扮演聲請釋憲角色，並等候大法官之釋憲判斷，不容率爾依憑個人主觀之認知，怠於形成違憲確信，跳躍程序爭議，逕入實體審理。
（六）違反司法院釋字第四一八號、第四三六號
司法院釋字第四一八號指出「憲法第十六條保障人民有訴訟之權，旨在確保人民有依法定程序受公平審判之權利。」釋字第四三六號亦表明「國家刑罰權之發動與運作，必須符合正當法律程序之最低要求。」個案正義的落實，所賴絕不止於實體審理結果的有罪、無罪，並兼含程序實踐的過程與堅持。

老實說，在這次高雄世運開幕前，我並不清楚什麼是「世界運動會」模糊的印象中只有高雄好像有弄一個看起來滿美的體育館，好像要辦一個規模頗大、世界級的運動會；直到看到一篇由咱們前駐南非大使在媒體上的一篇投書，才讓我真的想去了解究竟什麼是投書中所謂「你丟我撿」的世運會。

最近是怎樣？前陣子才買 20mm f2.8D，然後是 Canon SD880IS，現在是 Olympus E-P1？！威力彩那九億多我連一塊錢都沒看到，狂買相機是....？

其實，這是一位敗家指數跟 101 一樣高的同事，在相機毒發作以後，下午跑去北部最大水貨商繞一圈提出來的東西；據說還是他們賣出的第一台公司貨阿～對！去水貨商買公司貨，因為沒水貨....

一瞬間出走將近 120 位小朋友，難免一陣暈眩，所以就到附近的 80+5 度 C 喝杯咖啡，順便檢討一下剛才~~店員妹的打扮~~的敗家行為；事已至此，再檢討也是無濟於事，Refund 這個字不存在於台灣，下次~~進店門後記得眼睛睜大點~~記得別衝動....

敗都敗了，就別想那麼多啦～（安慰同事語）不過仔細的看了一下，銀色金屬的機身真是有質感，拿在手上的重量也剛好，整體的感覺讓玩 Leica M6 的同事讚不絕口，尤其是 E-P1 的機械快門聲，簡直跟 RF 一模一樣！由於個人也從 Panasonic G1 上市後就一直在等 Olympus 出 M3/4，今天看到實機差點也毒發....幸好....

可惜今天沒有記憶卡，沒辦法實拍，只好下禮拜看看有沒有機會出動囉～

PS：根據這位只玩底片的同事說法，因為 M3/4 接上轉接環以後就可以接萊卡或蔡頭，「恰巧」他手上有 35mm f1.2 跟 50mm f2，接上 E-P1 是「迷人的」70mm f1.2 跟 100mm f2....

總部出差 - 食宿篇

去了一趟美國，主要的目的是去把所有現行跟計畫中產品的相關資訊給全部一網打盡，這樣未來在客戶支援可以更有效率；不過因為整個禮拜的 Training Courses 擺在這邊未免也太無聊....先從最基本的「吃」跟「住」說起吧！

這次住的旅館，是位在離公司大約一英里遠的 Best Western Hotel（同事翻譯成：西方極樂世界....）

應該是 King Size 的床，很軟很舒服；不過因為時差的關係，在上面的時間其實不多，可惜～

順便想提的是，旅館的電視還真是有夠無聊。雖然說電視頻道也有將近一百台，不過轉來轉去幾乎都是購物頻道，除了幾個全國性的新聞台跟體育台以外，電視無聊的程度跟台灣的第四台比起來真是有過之而無不及阿！

有了地方住，第二個民生問題就是填飽肚子了。目前為止我只到過兩家美國公司的總部，最令人印象深刻的就是員工福利了；總是會在公司裡面有一個廚房，裡面擺滿了各式各樣的食物跟飲料，全部都是免費的。這次拜訪的廚房也是包羅萬象的充滿了各式零食、一冰箱的飲料任你拿、每天還會提供不同的三餐～美國上班真爽！

不過，這次出差前後一個禮拜的期間，只有幾餐是在公司吃，大部分時間是跟著同事去附近吃；平常大家都吃膩了公司的餐，所以趁這個機會可以報帳，同事們其實也滿樂的帶我出去外面吃～

禮拜天當地時間晚上大約六點左後到飯店，同事帶我去吃得第一天晚餐，Outback Steakhouse。這邊不得不提一下這個牛排，印象中美國是牛排的國家，牛排應該不錯才對；可惜的是，這個明明是創立在美國的牛排連鎖，他的沙朗竟沒有想像中美國牛肉的軟嫩；相反，這個以澳洲風格裝潢的牛排館，烤出來的 Midium Steak 竟然就像在吃澳洲牛肉般的乾澀，咬的我牙都痛了....（是真的痛，痛到現在還在痛....）

星期二中午的日本餐館，點的是泡菜牛肉蓋飯。味道還不賴（後面是不是該接「好吃」「推」？）這天的晚餐因為要 Teleconference Call 所以草草在公司解決。

星期三被老闆「強迫」一定要一位同事帶我去逛舊金山，這天的遊記下一篇在補，這邊先跳過。

星期四中餐到一間同事大推的日本拉麵店，還說一定不能等到中午才去，否則一定會在人行道上排隊。點了店內最暢銷的拉麵，果真名不虛傳！好吃＋大推＋份量十足＋C/P 高！一碗只要 $7.95 真的很值得！當下就跟同事說，下次來天天來這邊吃吧～

這是一間韓國烤肉吃到飽，根據老饕同事的經驗，裡面唯一好吃的就是這個牛小排～果然這種吃的領域聽專業的就對了！他的牛小排真的是軟嫩到了天理不容的地步！更可惡的是還飽滿油脂～在老饕同事的料理下，每一口都是入口即化阿！（特別註明，這裡的老饕同事不是喬瑟夫，雖然幾個 Key Words 聽起來很像）不過好吃的代價也不便宜，要價一顆人頭將近 $30，驚人....

禮拜五中午的 Farewell Lunch 則是到一家義大利餐廳，點的是 Seafood Risotto。這種西餐吃不出好壞，不過海鮮真的很多就是了，不知為何令人想到明明靠海卻不太會吃海鮮的某國....

後記
愛玩攝影的人應該都聽過 Henri Cartier-Bresson 布列松，以及知名的「決定的瞬間」。這位被譽為 The Father of Modern Photojournalism 的法國攝影師，在 1952 年發表了一系列所謂「Decisive Moment」作品，並且在書中寫著「There is nothing in this world that does not have a decisive moment」

這一系列的題材被後輩歌頌與模仿，希望自己有一天可以像大師一般拍出自己的決定一瞬間；就在某一天晚上，拖著疲憊無比＋時差的身體回到飯店以後，突然靈機一動，用新入手的 20mm 2.8D 拍出了我的 Decisive Moment：

聽過 hypo 嗎？兩年前跟這個網站訂了一本 12 平方的相本，對於他印刷與裝訂的品質非常滿意；前陣子偶然得知 hypo 推出新的產品，最重要的：是免費的！今天收到的就是前一陣子 hypo 推廣的 Ticket Lite。

硬牛皮紙的外包裝上註明請勿彎折，這裡面可是心血哪！

說也好玩，數位相機的是因為底片的沖洗成本與不易分享而流行，可以方便的在網路上流傳、不用到相館等沖洗相片就可以隨拍隨看；等到人手一台數位相機之後，卻又有很多新興的「數位相館」，讓使用者線上的相片可以變成「實體的照片」，hypo 就是這個演化下的產物之一。（其實 flickr 跟 picasa 都有類似的服務，只不過大部份都是以國外為主）

這個 Ticket Lite 的概念是與朋友分享，所以整個包裝風格是明信片的方式，讓我們可以印製自己喜歡的照片、填上想說的一段話、然後跟朋友交換。

夭壽貴的日本料理 Buffet

世界三大電腦展之一的 Computex Taipei，今天熱鬧開幕～依照慣例很多廠商在 Hyatt 租了一個禮拜的 Suite 當會議室，我們也不例外。不過呢，除了要輪班＋跟來訪客戶哈啦、偷瞄隔壁還有走廊上走來走去的 SG，其實是相當無聊的。

既然這麼無聊勤奮工作，那麼一天勞頓下來之後由公司出錢吃一頓好料的也是天經地義、在所難免的眾望所歸啦！於是乎，有生以來吃過最貴的一頓 Buffet 就這樣自然而然的發生啦！

這是位於 Hyatt 三樓的某日本料理 Buffet 餐廳，因為 Computex 的關係，今日每顆人頭要價 NTD 1300 不含服務費....

生魚片好像拿太多了，吃到後來有點噁....不過那個花枝真新鮮！

終於吃到生牛肉握壽司了！口味....嗯....還是比較習慣七分熟....

一定要稱讚那個骰子牛！So Creamy！

五月，報稅的季節，偏偏這個時候敗家癮作祟～玩物喪志阿！

首先，是買給阿母的 Canon SD880IS

不過是一年前的機種，沒想到整個漢博區找翻了都沒有....科技產業的產品生命週期短的可怕阿！最後是在相機王買到了個人覺得比較好看的金色。

另外前一陣子找了很久的 Nikon 20mm f2.8D，因為新品跟二手價差實在太大，所以一直在找二手；偏偏不知道是太好用還是太冷門，這隻在二手市場還真是有夠難找的！前後我總共在 Mobile01、DCView、Keybuy、Yahoo 等拍賣網刊登徵求文，最後總算是被我在露天拍賣找到了～

棒球，就是要看高畫質！

號稱是棒球的世界盃的 World Baseball Classic 世界棒球經典賽，即將在下禮拜開打，這場四年一度的盛事，感謝公視，讓我們有高畫質的比賽可以看！因為公視在二月二十七日的新聞稿表示，這次的世界棒球經典賽「公視初步決定除主頻播出三十場賽事外，針對中華隊賽事以及四強總決賽，也將於 HiHD 無線頻道播出六場 HD 規格的高畫質賽事節目」；甚至連下禮拜的熱身賽就有轉播喔！等了一個冬天，棒球迷們再度沸騰熱血吧！

原本想上網搜尋一下轉播的節目表，沒想到公視都已經幫我們整理好了～真的是揪甘心ㄟ啦！

用 Vista 的 Media Centre 收看高畫質 HiHD 數位電視

Vista Media Centre 是 Microsoft Vista Home Premium (or Ultimate) 內建的多媒體播放程式，最常用到功能的應該就是收看數位電視吧！台灣目前總共有 15 台 SD (720x480)、1 台 HiHD (1920x1080) 與 1 台數位廣播電台。可惜，Media Centre 「預設」並不能夠收看編碼為 H.264 的 HiHD，這樣讓不想花錢買 DVBViewer 或者 TotalMedia 的人無法享受到高畫質的數位電視。

幸好想利用 Media Centre 收看 H.264 HDTV 的人不是只有台灣，英國的 BBC HD 聽說也是 H.264 編碼；因此，有高手跳出來替我們解決了這個問題！下面這張圖就是我用我的 Vista Media Centre 收看公視 HiHD 的畫面：

安裝步驟：
1. 下載並安裝 Media Centre TV Pack 2008 (需要先安裝 Vista SP1)
2. 下載並安裝 PlayReady PC Runtime
3. 下載並安裝 KB951685 跟 KB950754 兩個 patch

到這裡，你的 Media Centre 軟體版本應該已經從原先的 6.1.1000.18000「升級」為 6.1.1000.18273：

接下來是讓 Media Centre 可以認得 H.264：
4. 從這裡下載修改過的 MSDTVVDEC.DLL
5. 到 C:\Windows\system32 目錄下，取得 MSDTVVDEC.DLL 的所有權 (File -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced -> Owner -> Edit)＋完全控制 (File -> Properties -> Security -> Edit)
6. 以管理員身份開啟命令提示字元模式，執行 regsvr32 -u msdtvvdec.dll
7. 備份 MSDTVVDEC.DLL
8. 將步驟 4 下載的 MSDTVVDEC.DLL 複製到 C:\Windows\system32 目錄下
9. 以管理員身份開啟命令提示字元模式，執行 regsvr32 msdtvvdec.dll

完成！你的 Media Centre 現在可以收看 HiHD 了！

注意！
步驟 4 的 MSDTVVDEC.DLL 會被 AntiVir 回報為木馬！根據 Green Button 的說法是在 beta 版的 Media Centre TV Pack 2008 是可以支援 H.264 解碼，不過不知道為何微軟在正式版裡面卻又把這個功能拿掉。於是國外網友便將 beta 版的 MSDTVVDEC.DLL 拿出來、把裡面的 Time Bomb 取消掉之後在放出來給大家用。詳情請看這篇討論串(很長....)

畢業論文＋證書

離畢業典禮結束將近兩個月，終於在今天收到我的畢業證書！看著這張薄薄的紙，想起去年泡在圖書館拼論文的日子，真是感慨萬千：好貴的一張紙阿！

原本以為再也見不到我們的畢業論文了，沒想到學校會連畢業證書一起寄還給我們，而且還是用內層有氣泡包材的紙袋寄過來，所以整份論文被保護的很好。總算是可以看到最後論文的評語了（不是很在乎寫啥就是了....）

打開郵件先看到的是一張恭喜獲得證書的信

第二張就是「畢業證書」了～竟然只是一張 A4....感覺很廉價說....

這張是「令人懷念」的 Submission Form（動作真快！20 號就改好了？）

這位 tutor 的評語以往都是用手寫，偏偏她的字草到連班上的英國人都看不太懂....幸好，這次的評語是用打字的，總算不用在自己有限的字彙裡 OCR 了。（Mixed method....Orz....）

小巷亭

說來還得感謝田中千繪哪！

禮拜天下午正在煩惱晚餐要吃啥，正巧看到田中千繪在介紹臺灣的日本料理，第一家就是位在南京西路巷子裡的「小巷亭」，當下不知道哪裡來的行動力，就開車衝上台北、來去吃好久沒去交關的小巷亭。

真的是太久沒來小巷亭了，連點餐順序都忘光光。我們一看到一堆人在巷子口排隊，就很本能的跟上去排，原來才發現我們排的是外帶＋跟我們一樣搞不清楚的人；內用的客人要先在裡面排到座位之後再出來排隊拿關東煮或者豆簽羹，至於生魚片跟小菜等基本上是可以拿了就走、不用傻傻的排隊的。最後面的收銀台也是外帶專用，內用的拿了就進去吃吧！吃飽了在算帳～

不是很貴，也不會很便宜的價位，不過對於吃慣了「爭鮮」的我們而言，小巷亭的食材還是優於旋轉壽司很多的（當然價位也是比較高的）。

這樣一小桌我們兩個吃很飽，可惜最受歡迎的豆簽羹一直等不到他煮好、不然就是被拿光....反正也吃飽了，下次再吃。

沒想到 2009 第一篇就是罵「人」的。這個「人」叫做 KATE，是一個 iPhone 上面的軟體....

由於這套軟體是出現在 Installer 的 Featured 的名單中，所以就裝來玩看看，大不了反安裝就好了嘛！沒想到....這一玩看看可讓我嚇出一身冷汗來！

首先是安裝完畢之後的重開機。正常情況下 iPhone 只要一按開機鍵馬上就可以看到一顆被咬了一口的白蘋果；可是無論我怎麼按，iPhone 就是不為所動....一點反應都沒有....該不會就這樣掛了吧？幸好放到 Docking 上再試一次....嗯，總算有螢幕了～（差點飆汗）

開機之後玩了一下設定，發現裡面有一個功能叫做 Smart Dailer，是輸入前幾個號碼後就會自動去通訊錄裡面找出對應的電話，好像還滿好玩的，來試看看會不會找錯....嗯....ㄟ....怎麼鍵盤沒幾秒就自己跳回桌面了？難道這也是新功能、怕使用者誤撥嗎？好吧！我得在畫面跳掉之前輸入幾個號碼才行....ㄟ？！不能撥號？！螢幕完全沒反應？！代誌大條了！

根據長久以來 M$ 給使用者的「訓練」，當安裝完應用程式之後通常都需要重新開機；「大概是蘋果也染上這個惡習了吧」心裡一邊懷疑一邊把 iPhone 重開機....喵的！還是不能打電話！

正常情況下，反安裝是最好的解決辦法。所以我很快的就把這支該死的程式給反安裝了，然後回到主畫面、進入電話功能畫面....喵的！還是不行打電話！這下囧了！

遇到疑難雜症第一個想到的就是孤狗大神！在輸入 "iphone kate" 這兩個關鍵字之後，大神自動配對搜尋功能幫我選出了第三個關鍵字：crash....看樣子我的 iPhone 並不孤單、這個叫做凱特的傢伙搞掛了一堆 iPhone....而且更喵的是，無解！無論軟體重開、硬體重開、將所有設定重設、用 iBrickr 移除～都沒用！我的 iPhone 變成白磚頭了！看來只有「砍掉重練」一途了....

在準備好所有的雞絲、把 SIM 卡暫時拿出來、連結到 iTune....這時候不曉得哪來的靈感，臨刑前不死心的再按一次電話看看....ㄟ？！恢復正常了！終於恢復正常了！

原來這個程式在網路上早已被罵翻天，很多人遇到跟我一樣的問題，最後只能選擇重新安裝 iPhone 這條路。只是，這有相容性問題的軟體，怎麼會放在 Installer 的 Featured Page 裡面哪？這不是整人嗎？

沒有白雪的聖誕節，就是少了那麼一點感覺....

去年聖誕節，因為擔心作業寫不完，所以只能待在宿舍羨慕同學到處去玩；事實證明我們的擔心是多餘的，因為作業還是很「符合預期」的拖到跨完年才開始寫，起跑點跟去歐洲繞一圈的同學們是一樣的....（所以復活節跟暑假這兩個假期我們就「學乖了」，先玩再說）

照不成文的慣例，我們又跑到台北信義區來找聖誕樹；兩年前因為要拍聖誕樹所以買了我的 D80，當時候還沒有買閃光燈，只能靠自然光讓臉不那麼黑；兩年後閃光燈早已經入手，但是因為故障沒有修，所以一樣還是拍了一堆臉黑黑的照片回來....

這次依舊是自我挑戰的用 35mm f2 定焦鏡（其實是沒閃燈、VR 的光圈不夠大，會手震....）

我的第一顆蘋果 - iphone

雖然跟幾位朋友討論都建議我多觀望一下再出手，不過前陣子因為 SE T610 突然秀逗而被挑起的敗家慾望一直無法平息，所以就在今天，我終於入手了我的第一顆蘋果。

入手的是 iphone 一代（二手）（圖：來吧! 加入「將你的2.5 iPhone扔到海裡去」的行列）

手機本身網路上一堆超詳細介紹文，所以就不再贅述；不過想要提的是賣家。或多或少都聽過在網路上買二手貨不好的經驗，我自己也遇過一次；不過這次運氣很好，遇到一個非常負責任且細心的賣家。賣家在電話中得知我沒有使用過 iphone 或類似產品之後，在交易完成以前非常仔細的教我如何使用這隻手機，我想至少也有一個小時吧！讓我這個外行人對於如何操作有了初步的認識（雖然回家後還是很快的把一堆賣家幫我預載在手機裡的檔案搞丟了）也是因為如此，讓原本我想再跟他殺價的念頭完全放棄～買東西不就講究個「奇蒙子」嗎？遇到這種好賣家，我也樂意當個好顧客阿！

回家以後花了一些時間把通訊錄塞到 iphone 裡面，我的第一顆蘋果正式上線！

菅芒花

最近桃園家不知名後山路旁長滿了菅芒花，昨天趁著太陽下山前的幾分鐘，特地繞過去拍了幾張。可惜因為地形限制，沒有辦法走進滿坑滿谷的菅芒花裡，加上天空很混濁，所以並不是很滿意。

台灣秋冬最美的景色就是芒花，芒花（台灣芒）台語叫「菅芒」，分布在低海拔溪流旁、荒廢地，類似五節芒。每年從9月、10月開始，芒花會抽出花穗，初時整串花穗呈紫紅色，成熟後便轉為黃褐色或灰白色，是台灣秋冬野外最美麗的景致之一。

即使是土壤不穩定、養分貧瘠，發達的地下莖讓芒花得以存活。有人以菅芒花「無香無味」的特質，比喻出自寒門的貧家女；有人以芒花堅強的「生命力」，代表堅毅、不畏逆境的精神。此外，芒花嫩芽可當竹筍代用品，花序軸可集結成掃帚。（記者甘育瑋／整理）

Taiwan: Police should avoid using excessive force at upcoming protests

Amnesty International has urged Taiwan's police force to comply with international guidelines on the use of force and crowd control at the planned student protests on Sunday 7 December.

The organization also joins calls for the Control Yuan, the body mandated by the Taiwan Constitution with supervisory power over the Executive branch, to conduct an independent inquiry into alleged excessive police force during November's protests.

The Wild Strawberry Student Movement has staged sit-ins since 6 November to protest against what they consider the use of excessive force during the Taiwan visit of Chen Yunlin, chairman of the China-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait. Civil society groups in Taiwan are investigating multiple claims that individuals suffered head injuries and broken fingers at the hands of police during the protests.

According to police reports on 8 November, approximately 10,000 police officers had been deployed during Chen's visit; 149 police officers and 200-300 individuals were injured; 18 were arrested.

Taiwanese civil society groups claim that police have applied the Assembly and Parade Law arbitrarily to silence dissent. According to the students' spokesperson, they will not seek police approval, as required by the law, but will only "report" their plans to law enforcement authorities, in line with amendments advocated by the Movement.

The Movement is organizing the protest on Sunday 7 December to criticize the government's failure to amend the Assembly and Parade Law.

Amnesty International said Taiwan's Control Yuan should address the serious concerns raised by civil society in Taiwan and the government should cease the practice of using the Assembly and Parade Law to deny freedom of assembly and allow individuals to protest peacefully. Amnesty International also called on Taiwanese police and judicial authorities to ensure that they investigate any protesters accused of engaging in violence in a fair, transparent, and timely manner in compliance with international standards.

Background

On 3-7 November 2008, Chen Yunlin, chairman of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, led a 60-member delegation from the People's Republic of China to visit Taiwan and meet with President Ma Ying-jeou.

The police barred protesters displaying Taiwanese and Tibetan flags and anti-China slogans along the routes taken by the envoy and confiscated or damaged some of these items. The police also closed a shop near the hotel where Chen Yunlin had dinner with Kuomintang honorary chairman Lien Chan when the shop loudly broadcast music from an album titled 'Songs of Taiwan'.

There were additional reports of arbitrary detention and police brutality, some of which, according to the police, were in response to the violence of protesters.

Following the visit, hundreds of students have staged sit-ins across Taiwan protesting the police's handling of the protests and demanding amendments to the Assembly and Parade Law, which has been misused to prevent protests.

On 6 November the students started their sit-ins outside the offices of the Executive Yuan or (Executive branch), where they were eventually removed by police on the grounds of illegal assembly. They continued the sit-ins at the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall and organized a daily demonstration calling for immediate amendments to the Assembly and Parade Law, apologies from the president and head of government and the resignations of the heads of the police and national security.

On 18 November Taipei police announced a list of 66 "troublemakers", who had allegedly thrown gas bombs and stones at the police and spat at the Taichung mayor. There were also reports that the police had pressured journalists and their supervisors to hand over video tapes to identify suspects who allegedly took part in the violence.

Dear Minister Wang [王清峰],

In an open letter to the Taipei Times published on Nov. 25, you responded to our joint statement regarding the erosion of justice in Taiwan. We appreciate your acknowledgement of the sincerity of our concerns, and are grateful to receive a prompt and serious reply.

Based on the information available to us, however, we remain concerned about choices made by prosecutors in applying existing legal authority and strongly believe in the need for reform. Please allow us to highlight a number of specific points:

1. The procedure of “preventive detention”: This procedure is obviously intended for serious criminal cases in which the suspect is likely to flee the country. In his Nov. 13 article in the South China Morning Post, Professor Jerome Cohen states that “it ought to be invoked rarely.”

Yet, during the past weeks, it has been used across the board, and it has been used only against present and former members of Democratic Progressive Party [DPP] governments. This casts severe doubts on the impartiality of the judicial system. We also wish to point out that the people involved were detained under deplorable circumstances, and that they were not even allowed to see relatives.

2. Your open letter contains the argument that when they were detained, the present and former DPP government officials “were all informed of the charges that had been brought against them.” This is simply not correct. When they were detained, they were subjected to lengthy interrogations — in some cases for up to 20 hours — which bore the character of a “fishing expedition,” and do not represent a formal indictment in any legal sense. In most cases the prosecutors had had months to collect information; if they did have sufficient evidence of wrongdoing, they should have formally charged the persons and let them have their day in a scrupulously impartial court of law. That would be the desirable procedure under the rule of law in a democratic society.

3. Your open letter also states that the persons involved had “the right and ability to communicate with their attorneys to seek legal assistance.” It neglects to mention, however, that in all cases where people were detained, the discussions with the lawyers were recorded and videotaped while a guard took notes. This information was then immediately transmitted to the respective prosecutors. We don’t need to point out that this is a grave infringement on international norms regarding lawyer-client privilege and makes mounting an adequate defense problematic at best.

4. On the issue of leaks to the press, your letter states that, under the Code of Criminal Procedure, information from ongoing investigations can only be disclosed by spokespersons of the prosecutor’s offices and that unauthorized disclosure is subject to criminal prosecution. The fact of the matter is that during the past weeks, the media have been filled with information on the ongoing investigations that could only have come from the prosecutors. We may point out one example, but there are numerous others:

Only a few hours after former minister of foreign affairs Mark Chen [陳唐山] was questioned on Nov. 3, Taiwan’s Apple Daily newspaper ran an article saying that “the prosecutors are thinking of charging Dr Chen in relation to the case.”

The issue of violation of the principle of secret investigation was also raised by Shilin District Court Judge Hung Ying-hua [洪英花], who strongly criticized the present situation and procedures followed by your ministry in a Liberty Times article on Nov. 17.

We may also mention that we find it highly peculiar that no steps whatsoever have been taken against the various prosecutors who leaked information, while we just learned that the Ministry of Justice is now taking steps against Mr Cheng Wen-long [鄭文龍], the lawyer for former president Chen Shui-bian [陳水扁], who supposedly “leaked” information to the press. The ministry sent a formal request to the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office asking the office to investigate and prosecute, and sent a formal request to the Taiwan Lawyers Association that asked the association to review the case and see whether Cheng should have his license revoked.

It is our understanding that the statements Mr Cheng made were in relation to former president Chen’s views on Taiwan’s situation and its future, and an expression of love for his wife, but did not have any bearing on the case against him. We hope you realize that if the ministry proceeds along these lines, this will be perceived as a direct confirmation of the strong political bias of the judicial system.

5. Your letter states that it is untrue that Taiwan’s judicial system is susceptible to political manipulation. If this is the case, how can it be explained that in the past weeks, only DPP officials have been detained and given inhumane treatment such as handcuffing and lengthy questioning, while obvious cases of corruption by members of the KMT — including in the Legislative Yuan — are left untouched by the prosecutors or at best are stalled in the judicial process?

We may also refer to expressions of concern by Professor Cohen and by lawyer Nigel Li [李念祖], who expressed his deep concerns about preventive detentions in the China Times’ editorial for Nov. 9. In the editorial, Mr Li praised remarks made by prosecutor Eric Chen [陳瑞仁], who was part of the legal team prosecuting the special fund cases, that the prosecutors’ offices should “avoid the appearance of targeting only one particular political group.”

The fact that the Special Investigation Task Force was set up under the DPP administration or that the prosecutor general was nominated by former president Chen is not at issue here. The problem is that the present system is being used in a very partial fashion.

We may add that the fact that you yourself have publicly discussed the content of the cases does create a serious imbalance in the playing field, and undermines the basic dictum that a person should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Under the present circumstances it is hard to see how the persons involved — including former president Chen — can have a fair trial in Taiwan.

6. Lastly, a statement by the US State Department is interpreted in your letter as an “endorsement” of Taiwan’s legal system and the procedures followed. It should be noted that in international diplomatic language, the term “we have every expectation” means “we are concerned and we will watch the situation closely.”

For the past two decades, Taiwan has faced a difficult situation internationally. What has given Taiwan important credibility in democratic countries around the world has been its democratization. We fear that the current judicial procedures being used in Taiwan endanger this democratization, and endanger the goodwill that Taiwan has developed internationally.

In conclusion, we do remain deeply disturbed by the erosion of justice in Taiwan, and express the sincere hope and expectation that your government will maintain fair and impartial judicial practices and quickly correct the present injustices. As an editorial in the Nov. 20 issue of the London-based Economist indicated, Taiwan is “hungry for justice,” and we also hope that your government will be willing to initiate judicial reform that would move Taiwan toward a fully fair and impartial judicial system that earns the respect and admiration of democratic countries around the world.

北市天文協會理事長陶蕃麟表示，「這種狀況比較難遇到，因為 3 個天體各自在運動的時候，要達到接近在相同的位置上，而且距離不能太遠，我們才能看到這種現象，那今天看到成為笑臉，是因為月球的相位，剛好也在眉月的狀況之下。」

晚上下班之後，急急忙忙帶著腳架就往環保公園衝；不過真的是太久沒用腳架了，竟然連雲台怎麼用都忘記，ㄎㄝ的要死....

終於搞定 Ubuntu 8.10 的音效設定

困擾了一個多月的問題，找到解決的辦法了！我的 ASUS F8Vr 自從裝上了 Ubuntu 8.10 以後，這台 P8600 跑 Vista 都算順暢，更不用說系統規格要求更低的 Ubuntu 了。不過沒有音效這個問題讓我困擾到想放棄 Ubuntu；一直到剛才終於讓我找到解決的辦法。

其實問題很簡單（通常找到解法以後都會覺得很簡單....），安裝最新的 ALSA 的 driver 就好啦！在無意間找到的昭漢網誌-搞定啞吧的ubuntu 這篇文章，終於把這個困擾許久的問題給解決了：

1. sudo apt-get install build-essential
2. download 最新的 ALSA driver
3. ./configure --with-cards=hda-intel
4. make
5. sudo make install
6. sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base，最後一行加入：options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
7. reboot

聽到開機之後的那個鼓聲....眼淚都快要飆出來了....

TAIPEI - A spate of arrests of members of the pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has drawn allegations that the Beijing-friendly Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT), which once ruled Taiwan under martial law, is back in the business of political repression.

The most controversial are the arrests on allegations of corruption of Chen Shui-bian, Taiwan's former president; Chiou I-jen, a former National Security Council secretary-general; and Yeh Sheng-mao, former director-general of the Ministry of Justice's Investigation Bureau.

"I am extremely concerned about the political situation in Taiwan, and I am personally very angry at the way the current government is handling national affairs and the way our beloved Taiwan is heading: back to the authoritarian past," said Joseph Wu, former de facto Taiwan ambassador to the United States under the Chen administration.

KMT officials say the arrests are not politically motivated.

"The Special Investigative Task Force was created by Chen Shui-bian and its officials were appointed by him," said KMT legislator Shyu Jong-shyoung.

Shyu said the DPP was overreacting to the recent arrests and using them for political gain.

Among the current and former DPP officials arrested or questioned on allegations of corruption are:

■ Yeh, arrested Oct. 6.

■ Yu Cheng-hsien, former minister of the interior, arrested Oct. 15.

■ James Lee, former deputy minister of environmental protection, arrested Oct. 28.

■ Chen Ming-wen, Chiayi County magistrate, arrested Oct. 29.

■ Chiou, arrested Oct. 31.

■ Su Chih-fen, Yunlin County magistrate, arrested Nov. 4.

■ Ma Yung-cheng, former Presidential Office deputy secretary-general, arrested Nov. 4.

■ Chen, arrested Nov. 11.

Pre-trial detention is legal in Taiwan, and a suspect can be held without charge for four months.

It is unclear whether more arrests of DPP members are planned.

Protests and riots have followed the arrests and a Nov. 3 visit by a mainland Chinese delegation headed by Chen Yunlin, chairman of China's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait.

"The excessive police presence during Chen Yunlin's visit, resembling scenes from the martial law days, infuriated DPP supporters," said Hsiao Bi-khim, former DPP legislator and adviser to former president Chen.

The KMT swept legislative and presidential elections earlier this year, ending an eight-year gap after holding power for more than a half-century. From 1947 to 1987, the KMT governed Taiwan through martial law, imprisoning or killing thousands in a period known as the White Terror.

The new president, Ma Ying-jeou, promised closer relations with China. The arrests have sparked accusations that Ma's government is carrying out political retribution and trying to appease the mainland.

No KMT officials are among those arrested since the election.

"While the DPP has repeatedly expressed support for rooting out corruption, the fairness and impartiality of the judiciary on these cases have come under question," said Hsiao. "Party members suspect that a political witch hunt is taking place, and the atmosphere of intimidation brings back familiar memories of the mass arrests following the Formosa Incident of 1979."

Some non-KMT officials say the arrests are awkward bureaucratic mismanagement, not political.

"I frankly do not consider the arrests part of the KMT's revenge or its attempt to placate mainland China," said Wu Yu-Shan, director of the Institute of Political Science, Academia Sinica. "The timing of the arrests, particularly those of the two magistrates, was politically awkward, as they made it possible for Chen to form a 'united front of hunger strikers' and made the Green camp [DPP] hysteric."

Instead of a coordinated campaign for revenge, said Wu Yu-Shan, "I consider the arrests signs of lack of coordination among the different branches of the government."

Allegations of KMT political oppression could become a thorn in the side of U.S.-Taiwan relations.

"I think it will become an irritant between Taiwan and the U.S. if the situation is not improved, and the U.S. government may move one scale higher than its current statement," said Joseph Wu, now a research fellow at the Institute of International Relations, National Chengchi University.

"And if the situation gets much worse than what it is right now, i.e., more arrests, more detention without hearing and indictment, etc., the U.S. might do something such as unpublicized human rights dialogue, open criticism and limitation of the exchanges between the two countries," Wu said. "But I don't think the overall relations between Taiwan and the U.S. will be affected."

Washington is watching the situation closely, but so far, its reaction has been tepid. In a Nov. 12 press conference, the de facto U.S. ambassador to Taiwan called the arrest of Chen a "big story," but said it was "a matter for Taiwan's legal system to resolve."

"The only thing I would say is that not only Taiwan but also your friends around the world will be watching this process very closely, and we believe it needs to be transparent, fair and impartial," said Stephen Young, who runs the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). "Assuming that it is conducted in that manner, it can strengthen the confidence, both here and around the world, in your democracy."

Young said U.S.-Taiwan cooperation on security issues is close "across the board" and pointed to Taiwan Defense Minister Chen Chao-min's "successful trip to America earlier this fall."

"President Ma's support for the arms requested and budgeted by the Chen administration resulted in President Bush's notification of $6.4 billion in weapons [sales] to the U.S. Congress last month," Young said. "This was a strong reaffirmation of America's commitment to Taiwan's defense needs under the Taiwan Relations Act."

Young said unofficial advisers to U.S. President-elect Barack Obama were scheduled to visit Taiwan in early December. The delegation will include former AIT chairman Richard Bush and Strobe Talbott, former U.S. deputy secretary of state, both now with the Brookings Institution in Washington. Bush declined to comment.

"I understand that they have been among a very large number of people who have been advising Sen. Obama during the campaign, but I can't say whether they're coming out with a message reflecting [the thinking of] the president-elect, or whether they're coming in their Brookings capacity," Young said.

Young said unofficial delegations from Washington are common. Earlier this year, former U.S. defense secretary William Perry led a group to Taiwan that later traveled to China as well.

The global financial crisis has given rise to many harebrained schemes around Asia (see: Japan, stimulus plan of), and to that list add Taiwan's latest policy outing: shopping coupons worth $100 for every man, woman and child.

The giveaway is slated to start in time for the Chinese New Year holidays early next year and will set the government back some $83 billion Taiwan dollars ($2.5 billion). Taiwanese residents need only take their ID cards to the nearest housing registration office or post office to receive the vouchers, which can be redeemed at registered stores and restaurants.

President Ma Ying-jeou's popularity ratings are in the low 20s, and perhaps he hopes this will distract voters from the fact that so far on his watch, GDP growth is contracting and the stock market is down by over 50%. The Taiwan government predicts the vouchers will boost GDP by some 0.64% next year, but color us skeptical. Wavering consumers are more likely to spend the coupon on things they'd buy anyway and save the "spare" money.

Mr. Ma will have to look elsewhere for meaningful stimulus. Rather than saddling future taxpayers with debt for what will be at best a slight temporary relief, better to boost the economy by cutting taxes and reforming inefficient regulatory structures. A World Bank survey released last month put Taiwan in 61st place globally for ease of doing business, down from 58th place last year -- definitely an area that could use improvement.

The voucher program is just one of several ill-conceived ways Taiwan has tried to tackle the crisis: The stock exchange has banned short selling until the end of this year, and a $15 billion government stabilization fund has plowed millions into the stock exchange since September in an effort to shore up prices.

Faced with a global financial downturn, Taiwan's response hasn't been entirely negative. Significant tax cuts were announced as part of a stimulus plan in September, and trade with China is becoming easier thanks to the recent political détente. But to really weather the crisis, Taiwan's leaders will need to separate the good ideas from the bad. A policy that may be politically popular today won't be smart economics tomorrow.

Freedom House Calls for Inquiry into Taiwan Clashes

Freedom House urges Taiwan's government to create an independent commission to thoroughly investigate clashes between police and activists protesting Chinese envoy Chen Yunlin's historic visit and recommend needed reforms.

"A public investigation of the violence—which involved both sides—will send a critical message that the new government of President Ma Ying-jeou is interested in upholding the democratic values of transparency and accountability," said Jennifer Windsor, Freedom House executive director. "The inquiry should examine evidence on both sides and recommend any needed reforms to police practices and the legal framework governing demonstrations."

Hundreds of university students are currently staging a sit-in in Taipei's Freedom Square and several other cities to protest the government's handling of the incident. During Chen’s visit, police reportedly used heavy-handed tactics—including physical assault, arbitrary detention and destruction of property—to prevent Chen from seeing symbols of Taiwanese or Tibetan independence, as well as broader demonstrations against the Chinese regime. Demonstrators also employed violence against police, throwing rocks and petrol bombs outside Chen's hotel on November 6.

The clashes reveal a need for police to undergo crowd control training that adheres to the standards used in other democracies. Likewise, demonstrators and political advocacy groups must recommit themselves to orderly protests that avoid violence under any circumstances.

The inquiry commission should examine controversial passages in Taiwan's Assembly and Parade Law, such as restrictions on where people are allowed to demonstrate, and determine whether they need to be liberalized to protect citizens' rights to freedom of expression and assembly. The commission should also investigate claims that police are selectively enforcing the law.

The visit by Chen, the most senior Chinese official to visit Taiwan since it split from China in 1949, and the recent arrests of several opposition party figures are raising concerns that that President Ma and his Kuomintang Party may rollback democratic freedoms.

"The government must renew its commitment to tolerating robust freedom of assembly and peaceful protest, no matter what the cause," said Windsor.

Taiwan is ranked Free in the 2008 edition of Freedom in the World, Freedom House's survey of political rights and civil liberties, and in the 2008 version of Freedom of the Press.

The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) is writing to you to express its deep concern regarding the detention and attacks against citizens protesting peacefully during the visit of Chinese envoy Mr. CHEN Yunlin. FIDH believes that such arrests and violence are grave violations of human rights, under the pretext of national security.

According to the information received, since November 3rd, 2008, the city of Taipei has been heavily occupied by more than 7,000 police officers. The authorities have taken many drastic measures, including: confiscating and damaging private property, harassing and assaulting people who came too close to undefined or vaguely defined areas, clearing communal highway lanes with force, conducting random searches and arrests, and restricting the freedom of movement of citizens. These actions have been taken during Mr. CHEN's visit, in the name of protesting security.

However, we fear these aggressions in fact aim at suppressing the right to freedom of expression of citizens. To supplement this violence, there are also unprecedented restrictions which clearly overpass the limits of ensuring security. For example, citizens have been restricted from displaying or carrying the national flag of Taiwan, forbidden to declare that "Taiwan is not part of China", forbidden from carrying filming devices, and restricted from playing any music the authorities consider inappropriate.

These measures seem to aimed at silencing political opinions rather than protecting security, and thus they blatantly violate the Constitution of Taiwan, notably Articles 11 and 14 which protect freedom of expression and international human rights standards.Consequently, FIDH requests that the National Police Agency and National Security Bureau, bound by the Constitution and the national legislation, should be held responsible for violating their legal obligations. The Judicial Yuan and Control Yuan should immediately conduct independent and impartial investigations into all allegations of human rights violations and hold all personnel on office accountable for neglecting their civil and legal obligations, in line with the Judicial Yuan's recent statement that "it is very important to form an objective and solid review standard, and make the constitutional reviews more predictable and trust-worthy to people". Those who perpetrated these violations, particularly in the National Police Agency and National Security Bureau, must be held accountable, in accordance with Article 24 of the Constitution of Taiwan, which stipulates that "Any public employee who, in violation of law, infringes upon the freedom or right of any person shall, in addition to being subject to disciplinary punishment in accordance with law, be liable to criminal and civil action. The victim may, in accordance with law, claim damages from the State for any injury sustained therefrom".

More generally, FIDH calls upon the government to amend the Parade and Assembly Law, in particular: to abolish the requirement for mandatory permits and adopt the system of voluntary basis and the clause on special area of restriction, which gives too much discretion to the authority to restrict people's freedom of association and freedom of expression. In addition the authorities should abolish the order to dismiss as well as the provisions on special criminal punishment, which is a legacy of the martial law area. Finally, Taiwan should establish the protocol for law enforcement personnel who should have the obligation to clearly announce his or her identity when on duty, to ensure legitimacy and accountability.

DIRECTOR YOUNG: Thank you all for coming. I scheduled this press conference a couple of weeks ago based upon my promise to you that every six months I would make myself available to talk with the Taiwan media. I know I'm competing with some big stories this morning.

First of all I'd like to say it's good to see Wang Chien-ming back in Taiwan and looking healthy. I wish him all the best of luck in 2009, except when he faces my Boston Red Sox.

Second, clearly the detention yesterday of former President Chen Shui-bian is a big story. But I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you here, because I see this as a matter for Taiwan's legal system to resolve. The only thing I would say is that not only Taiwan but also your friends around the world will be watching this process very closely, and we believe it needs to be transparent, fair and impartial. Assuming that it is conducted in that manner, it can strengthen the confidence, both here and around the world, in your democracy.

U.S.-Taiwan Relations

Today, I really want to spend my time talking about U.S.-Taiwan relations. I will have some opening remarks, and I will leave plenty of time for your questions.

I would like to start by saying that I was quite moved by last Saturday's memorial service for Formosa Plastics founder Wang Yung-ching. His life is a symbol of Taiwan's economic success over the past half-century. I am very proud of our American connection to this son of Taiwan and business king. I think it's a source of pride for all of us that a U.S. assistance grant in 1954 allowed Mr. Wang to begin his company, which has grown into the wonder of Taiwan, Asia and the entire world. I think it's quite remarkable that, in death, Mr. Wang was able to bring the differing players in Taiwan's political life together to honor his lifetime of business success, contributions to this island's social welfare, and adherence to good old-fashioned work ethics. That was quite an accomplishment.

As to the state of U.S.-Taiwan relations today, many of you are already familiar with my stress on the three pillars of this relationship, that is: democracy, security and economic cooperation. I early on made clear that we are prepared to work with whomever emerged from last March's hard-fought presidential election. It was also clear that there was going to have to be focus on restoring trust after some stress to the relationship over the past couple of years. President-elect Ma Ying-jeou welcomed this challenge, and I have to say we are developing a good working relationship with him and his government. The impressive electoral turnout and successful transition to the new administration this spring reinforced my faith in Taiwan's vibrant young democracy.

On the security front, we have continued our close operation across the board. Defense Minister Chen Chao-min had a successful trip to America earlier this fall, an example of that kind of cooperation. President Ma's support for the arms requested and budgeted by the Chen Administration resulted in President Bush's notification of US$6.4 billion in weapons [sales] to the U.S. Congress last month. This was a strong reaffirmation of America's commitment to Taiwan's defense needs under the Taiwan Relations Act.

On the economic side, we continue to work closely with our Taiwan friends on a broad agenda. This includes active discussion of the government procurement agreement under the WTO; e-Commerce between our two economies; exploring ways to strengthen the investment climate between the two of us; working with our Taiwan partners on improving respect for intellectual property rights; fully opening Taiwan's market to U.S. beef and other agricultural products, such as pork and rice; and working with our friends in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Department of Health on setting MRLs - which are maximum residue limits - for a variety of U.S. products.

Last year's two-way trade between us hit a record volume of US$64.7 billion. This year, through the month of October, we are on track to set a new record, if the trends continue through the last two months of the year. Despite this year's global turndown, we continue to enjoy the broad engagement with our Taiwan partners that makes this island our ninth-largest trade partner. While Taiwan, like the rest of Asia, has been hit hard by the global financial crisis these past several months, still its continuing commitment to openness and globalization makes me confident the economy here will survive and prosper. I think what's emerging in recent weeks is a recognition that this is a global problem, and it needs to be resolved by cooperation of all the major economies around the world. Taiwan is a partner in such organizations as APEC, WTO, ADB and other organizations, and it will be important that Taiwan be consulted with, and be given a chance to contribute to, the global response to the economic situation that is continuing to unfold.

U.S. Election

Last week was a very eventful one in American politics. One cannot but be inspired by the heavy turnout and the historic result of our presidential election, as a very able and talented African-American was elected our 44th president. We're trying to close the gap between us and you, and by having 67% of eligible U.S. voters participate, we're getting closer to the numbers in the high 70s and low 80s that Taiwan has been able to register. That participation rate of 67% was, I believe, a modern record going back over 100 years for turnout in a presidential election in America. I know not just Americans, but the whole world is hoping for a tremendous performance from our next president, given the number of problems that we face.

I want to assure all of you and all of my friends in Taiwan that U.S.-Taiwan relations will remain strong and enduring under President Obama. First, this is nothing new. Since 1979, we will now have had by next January five transitions to new administrations in Washington. History has shown that the fundamentals of our robust if informal relationship have flourished through all of these shifts in American politics.

This success is based on a solid foundation including three points. First, there is the traditional relationship of friendship between the two of us. Second, there is the continuing strength of the Taiwan Relations Act. And finally, there are the shared values between our two societies. That includes vibrant democracy, respect for human rights, an open society, a free press. that's you - and the continued thousands and thousands of exchanges between the people of our two societies.

During his campaign, Senator Obama has reiterated his commitment to the relationship in statements like the one following last month's arms notification. He is committed to continuing the defense cooperation under the Taiwan Relations Act, and he has also sent warm letters of congratulation to President Ma at the time of the election in March and again at the time of his inauguration in May. I personally know several of President-elect Obama's foreign policy advisers. They are well-versed in this area of the world and can offer the next president solid advice. People like Jim Steinberg, Richard Bush and Jeff Bader. Of course, any new president has the option of reviewing the details of international relations, but again, the fundamentals of our relationship are quite solid. So I don't think you should be too nervous about this transition.

Cross-Strait Relations, Chen Yunlin's Visit

I'd like to talk a little bit about the strategic triangle between Taipei, Beijing and Washington. I remain confident that our continuing effort to build a constructive, positive relationship with an emerging People's Republic of China will not come at Taiwan's expense. The roots of this complex triangle have been grounded for a long time now in our one-China policy, the three joint communique and, of course, the Taiwan Relations Act. At its core, we support efforts by Taiwan and China to reduce tension in the Taiwan Strait and expand economic and trade cooperation, which brings me to last week's historic visit to Taiwan by China's ARATS Chairman Chen Yunlin. The United States welcomed Mr. Chen's visit and the cross-Strait dialogue it advanced. We believe the four agreements signed during this past week helped further regional peace, stability and prosperity.

I have seen some speculation in the Taiwan media that suggests America is somehow secretly worried by what is going on between China and Taiwan these days. This is simply not true. We have been encouraging China to talk with Taiwan's democratically elected leaders for a long time, and we are pleased by recent progress in this direction. Basically, my country welcomes any cooperation and any agreement that improves relations across the Taiwan Strait, so long as it is achieved on the basis of equality and mutual benefit and takes into account the views of the 23 million people of democratic Taiwan.

Finally, I have to say that the United States regrets the violence that occurred here last week during the Chen Yunlin visit. One of the hallmarks of democracy is the fostering of open exchanges in the marketplace of ideas. In that sense, we encourage the pursuit of dialogue between the government here and the opposition on important issues like the strengthening of democracy, respect for differing opinions and the future direction of cross-Strait Relations.

Thank you for your patience. I'm ready to take your questions.

U.S. Beef

JENNY HSU, TAIPEI TIMES: Good morning, Director Young. My question is about the beef and pork imports, plus rice, that you mentioned today. That was also an issue that you talked about at the last press conference. There hasn't been much public consensus about U.S. beef, and there are still some people who are worried about the potential of BSE in U.S. beef, and ractopamine in U.S. pork. Can you tell us a little about how you want the Taiwanese government to cooperate with the U.S. in opening the market for these products? Thank you.

DIRECTOR YOUNG: Yes, thank you for the question. Actually, we've had a very good dialogue both with the Chen administration up to May and with the Ma Administration since then on this question. I have a longer statement, which we're going to put out for you to pick up at the end of this press conference, on our position on beef, but I will summarize it orally now. (We'll also put it on our web site today.) In essence, we have been calling for a science-based decision by Taiwan on fully opening up its market to U.S. beef. There has been a comprehensive review of the safety issue by the Department of Health here in which we have cooperated actively. Taiwan has twice in the last year sent specialists to the United States to visit our packing houses and to talk with our experts. As I understand it, Taiwan's Department of Health has recently completed a risk assessment evaluation that I believe finds that U.S. beef products are fully safe and consistent with the standards of the organization OIE, of which Taiwan is a member and which has set global standards for the management of BSE, or Mad Cow Disease. We hope that Taiwan on this basis can soon open its market to all varieties of American beef, just as South Korea has done earlier this year. On a broader point, I think the recent concerns about melamine and other products coming out of China underscore the importance of a strong, science-based process of evaluating food products around the world. The United States, through its Food and Drug Administration, adheres to the highest possible standards for all food products that we consume ourselves in America or that we export to our friends around the world, including Taiwan. We look forward to continuing to expand our exports of American beef, pork, fruit, rice, wheat, and other products that have already found favor or will find greater favor in Taiwan, once your Ministry of Health and your administration in general have fully opened their markets.

Restoring Mutual Trust

RACHEL CHAN, CENTRAL NEWS AGENCY: Good morning, sir. You just mentioned that there's certainly a need to restore mutual trust between Taiwan and the U.S. How much do you think the work has been done, and do you think it is enough now for the two sides to resume higher-level official visits?

DIRECTOR YOUNG: It's always hard to measure trust, in personal relationships or in bilateral diplomatic relations, but I think that the Ma Administration has made a great effort, and we appreciate both the things that they've said and the things that they've done. A key area there has been the willingness to engage China in a discussion on mutually beneficial economic cooperation. I think last week's visit by Chairman Chen Yunlin has shown that the majority of people here in Taiwan and around the world want China and Taiwan to try to work out their differences through mutual dialogue. But as we've often said before, we don't want Taiwan to be pressured or bullied into any one-sided agreements. In that respect, the strengthening of our security cooperation is also very important to our relationship, because I think it gives the Ma Administration the confidence to deal from a position of strength in talking with your large neighbor across the Strait. As far as exchanges are concerned, there are an awful lot of visitors going back and forth between Taiwan and the United States all the time. For example, the governor of Hawaii is visiting here in a few days to promote tourism between Taiwan and Hawaii. And we had the governor from Idaho here a few weeks ago, as well as a lot of specialists from the government at various levels coming back and forth. I expect that to continue, and as to the question of how high a level might come, I think that the next administration will look at the past record of exchanges, which has included occasional cabinet-level officials in the economic and trade area, and make a judgment based upon its sense of what our relationship requires to continue to move forward.

Obama Advisors to Taiwan

RALPH JENNINGS, REUTERS: I understand that president-elect Obama may send a team to Taiwan at the end of the month, and I want to know what kinds of people they are, when they'll be here, what kind of message they're bringing, and what kind of information they might want from Taiwan. Thanks.

DIRECTOR YOUNG: Well, my understanding is that Richard Bush, the former Chairman of AIT back in the 1990's, and the head of Brookings Institution where Richard Bush works, Strobe Talbott, the former Deputy Secretary of State under President Clinton, were planning to come out to Taiwan to attend a conference, I think actually in early December. I understand that they have been among a very large number of people who have been advising Senator Obama during the campaign, but I can't say whether they're coming out with a message reflecting [the thinking of] the president-elect, or whether they're coming in their Brookings capacity. But this kind of flow of people of note like them is a staple of our relationship. For example, I remember earlier this year former Secretary of Defense William Perry led a large and distinguished group out to engage in Track Two negotiations, also going over to China afterwards. Those connections I think are part of the framework of our unofficial relationship that help us understand each other better and explore opportunities to improve relations. So I welcome the visit of my old friends, Mr. Talbott and Mr. Bush.

IPR Protection

CHIU YU-TZU, BUREAU OF NATIONAL AFFAIRS: I have a question about IPR issues. Actually, IPR issues is also one of two questions that Taiwan and Beijing will talk about probably early next year in Beijing, and I would like to know if you have more details about the situation from the U.S. side on IPR issues.

DIRECTOR YOUNG: Thank you for the question. Cooperation on intellectual property rights has been one of the bright aspects of our economic dialogue over the last several years. We recognize the significant progress that Taiwan has made in this area, and we know that they are anxious to be removed from the 301 watch list. I know that Washington is evaluating that request as it reviews the progress that we all acknowledge Taiwan has made. I actually think engaging China on IPR issues will be very important, because Taiwan can share its experience over the last ten or fifteen years as China also tries to improve its policing of IPR violations, because there's a lot to be learned from the success of Taiwan's approach to this issue. Same with food safety, democracy, and freedom of the press.

Managing the International Financial Crisis

SEAN LIU, APPLE DAILY: Just wondering, Director Young, you mentioned that we should give Taiwan the chance to make a contribution to solve the international financial crisis. So, just wondering, did the U.S. government have any concrete plan to help Taiwan to join the international effort to solve this problem? Thank you.

DIRECTOR YOUNG: Yes, that's a good question. I think that Taiwan does have a lot to contribute, and in AIT's dialogue with the people across the spectrum in the economic and governmental areas of the Ma Administration, we've been discussing this. I think actually the APEC summit that will take place in a couple of weeks, actually in a week and a half, in Lima, Peru, will be another opportunity for Taiwan to sit down with leaders from around Asia-Pacific when Lien Chan goes as the Taiwan representative. As I understand it, the discussion will very much focus on plans to address the global economic and financial crisis. I also think that the standing channels between us here in Taiwan through AIT and through Taiwan's TECRO office in Washington are ways in which we can keep this discussion going on a regular basis. This is also why we support Taiwan's being able to contribute to international organizations and have its voice heard, even where membership is not permitted, and I think that president-elect Obama has made clear that he will continue to support that effort, including trying to get Taiwan observer status in WHO.

Possible FTA for Taiwan?

TIM CULPAN, BLOOMBERG: Given the various developments and improvements in the trade relationship between Taiwan and the U.S., could you give us your feeling on the outlook for a possible free trade agreement? [Whether] there has been enough improvement for you to compare the prospects for an FTA today versus six months ago when we last talked, and of course given that we now know who the new [U.S.] president will be -- and Taiwan, of course, has a new administration.

DIRECTOR YOUNG: We're very well aware of Taiwan's interest in a free trade agreement, and I'm sure the new administration will focus on that interest on the part of Taiwan when it looks at this area of the world. But I'm sure you're following the debates back in the United States, and in fact the whole question of how we are going to manage FTAs, including the ones that have already been negotiated with countries like Colombia, Panama, and South Korea, has become a contentions topic in Congress. This is something President-elect Obama is grappling with, and also something that the incoming Congress will need to work on. And I also see that there is continuing discussion about how to salvage the Doha Round, which would of course solve this by allowing the entire world to come up with a framework for dealing with trade. I believe that in the APEC Summit in Lima, there will be discussion of the Asian-Pacific FTA concept, which has already been around for a couple of years. But I think that until the fundamental conceptual question of how the new Congress and the new President are going to deal with FTA has been resolved, the idea initiating new dialogue with potential partners around the world, including Taiwan, is a little bit premature. I also want to stress that, through the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement, TIFA, we already have a positive and important, even vital, tool for working together with Taiwan as trade partners to resolve problems and questions, including ones that would go to the question of a trade agreement.

Chen Shui-bian Case and Judicial Reform

ROBIN KWONG, FINANCIAL TIMES: Aside from President Chen's case, there have been a number of cases in Taiwan recently where the prosecutor has used his power to detain people without formally charging them for long periods, and this has raised concern among not just people in Taiwan but also academics in other countries and the States, and I'm just wondering, from your perspective, do you seen any concern over this use of prosecutorial power? Do you see any need for judicial reform here?

DIRECTOR YOUNG: That's a good question, and you'll probably be dissatisfied with my answer. I think that in any young democracy, it is important to build confidence in the judicial system and the criminal justice system. As I said before, given the politics of all of this, it is very important that the process, as it goes forward, be transparent, fair and impartial. As I also said, I think that, on a variety of subjects these days, greater dialogue between the government and the opposition is warranted and hopefully will emerge in the near future. I know that Taiwan's legal system, just as America's, views everyone as innocent until proven guilty.

Progress on TIFA Dates? Visa Waiver?

JENNY HSU, TAIPEI TIMES: Thank you, sir. My last question is, in July on the Fourth of July reception, you mentioned that a TIFA talk would be held in Taipei later this year. It's mid-November: Can you tell us about the progress of TIFA talks? Also, I wonder if you can update us on the possibility of Taiwan becoming a roadmap country in the visa waiver program?

DIRECTOR YOUNG: As I said, TIFA is a vital tool for us to work together as trading partners to solve problems. The United States and Taiwan have used the TIFA in past years in a meaningful way to knit closer ties and to build the relationship. The last TIFA round was held in Washington in July 2007, and TIFA meets periodically. The next TIFA meeting has not yet been scheduled, though USTR in Washington is managing this issue.

In the meantime, we continue to have many activities consistent with our TIFA framework. For example, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Tim Stratford paid a visit in late July to discuss the entire agenda. We've had visitors from the Department of the Treasury and other organizations on a regular basis coming here to discuss aspects of our relationship. We've also taken advantage of digital capabilities to have digital video conferences of our experts and Taiwan's. So we have a variety of ways of continuing to push our economic relationship forward, and we will continue to do so. I am confident the next administration will also continue to view relations with our ninth-largest trade partner very seriously.

We're very well aware of Taiwan's interest in a visa waiver. While Taiwan was not on the list which President Bush announced not long ago of new partners with whom we would advance visa waiver agreements, I am sure that the next administration will take a look at the whole question of what other partners might be considered in this process. We have a regular dialogue with the Foreign Ministry and other organizations here on such questions as strengthening the issuance of Taiwan's passport, and other areas that can improve our consular relations. I want to say, as somebody who began my AIT career 27 years ago as a visa officer, we continue today to stress the highest standards of service and efficiency in dealing with the large number of friends from Taiwan who seek consular services, particularly non-immigrant visas.

I'd like to thank all of you for coming. It's always nicer to sit down and talk with you than to walk past you when I'm going in and out of meetings, probably for you as well as for me. I look forward to continuing this opportunity to talk with you from time to time.

JOINT STATEMENT

US , European and Australian scholars and writers express concern about prosecutions in Taiwan .
The undersigned, scholars and writers from the US , Europe and Australia wish to express their deep concern about the recent series of detentions in Taiwan of present and former DPP government officials. To date there have been at least seven such cases (See list below).
以下聯署的國際學者對於近日台灣政府一連串拘留卸任與現任民進黨政府官員的行動，深表憂慮。直至今日，據我們瞭解共有七件類似案件。

It is obvious that there have been cases of corruption in Taiwan , but these have occurred in both political camps. The political neutrality of the judicial system is an essential element in a democracy. It is also essential that any accused are considered innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
很明顯的，貪污這個問題在台灣依然存在，但是這樣的案例在兩大政黨裡均曾發生。司法系統維持政治中立是民主的基本要素。堅持任何被指控者在裁定有罪前均是無罪的法律理念也是必要的。

We also believe that the procedures followed by the prosecutor's offices are severely flawed: while one or two of the accused have been formally charged, the majority is being held incommunicado without being charged. This is a severe contravention of the writ of habeas corpus and a basic violation of due process, justice and the rule of law.
我們認為檢察官所採取的法律程序有著嚴重的缺失：雖然當一、兩位被指控者已被正式起訴時，大多數被指控者卻在未被正式起訴情況之下就遭到收押禁見。這嚴重違反了人身保護令以及正當法律程序、公義與法治。

In the meantime, the prosecutor's offices evidently leak detrimental information to the press. This kind of "trial by press" is a violation of the basic standards of judicial procedures. It also gives the distinct impression that the Kuomintang authorities are using the judicial system to get even with members of the former DPP government. In addition, the people who are being held incommunicado are of course unable to defend themselves against the misreporting and the leaks in the news media.

We do firmly believe that any alleged wrongdoings must be dealt with in a fair and open manner in an impartial court. Justice through the rule of law is essential to Taiwan 's efforts to consolidate democracy and protect fundamental human rights.
我們深信任何宣稱的犯罪行為應該以公正與公開的方式，在中立的法庭裡審判。透過法治落實司法，才能強化台灣民主與保障基本人權。

We do not want to see Taiwan's hard-earned democracy jeopardized in this manner. Taiwan can justifiably be proud of its transition to democracy in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It would be sad for Taiwan and detrimental to its international image if the progress which was made during the past 20 years would be erased. Taiwan needs to move forward, not backwards to the unfair and unjust procedures as practiced during the dark days of Martial Law (1947-87).

終於收到 Offer Letter 了

經過將近一個月的信件與越洋電話面試，終於在剛剛收到了正式的 Offer Letter 了！長達兩個月的空窗期總算是可以結束、有事情做了！

雖然這只是我的第三份工作，不過之前也因為想跳槽等因素，陸陸續續的面試過好幾次；不過，這次面試經驗絕對是我目前為止聽過單一公司面試次數最多的。第一份工作是在退伍前透過 104 找到的，那是一次很典型的面試：首先做智力與語言測驗，跟人事大約聊一下學歷背景等等；然後跟部門主管約第二次面試以後就得到那份工作了。剛退伍那年景氣不錯，所以公司也願意用沒有經驗的新鮮人，起薪也不算差，那時候要找工作不是很難。

有了工作經驗以後，想要轉職透過朋友介紹錄取率絕對高過於人力銀行刊登履歷（當然並非絕對，我就曾被某公司拒絕）。第二份工作就是透過前同事介紹的，這次更簡單：先跟部門主管聊過去的經驗，然後與人事聊期望薪資與福利，並且依照該公司慣例、總經理與面試者會在約一次面試，這樣就順利進去第二間公司了。

不過這次這間公司的面試確實讓我「大開眼界」。不曉得是不是跟全球景氣下滑有關，現在很多公司不是裁員就是人事凍結、遇缺不補；不過還是有些公司持續再徵人，只是這間公司的面試過程我只能用「謹慎」來形容：

面試都硬成這樣了，現在擔心的是怕過不了試用期 ....

兄弟象直落三擊敗 La New 熊，挺進 2008 年 CPBL 冠軍賽

必須老實說，自認為死忠象迷的我，在與 La New 打五戰三勝挑戰賽之前，比較了一下雙方戰前的先發打線與牛棚戰力，我並不看好兄弟可以擊敗攻擊與防禦數據都略優的 La New 熊，甚至在開賽前想來一篇數據比較表（幸好沒寫）說明不看好的理由；不過，很高興我的想法是錯的！因為兄弟以直落三的成績打敗賽前被多數專家看好的 La New 熊、挺進了 2008 年的 CPBL 總冠軍賽！也證明了棒球不能只是看數據而已～

賽前不看好的原因很簡單，就是兄弟象今年非常薄弱的長打能力。在兄弟象主砲彭政閔表示今年想力拼四割男（全年打擊率四成）、以及陳冠任目標安打王的情況下，兄弟象今年全隊只打了 38 支全壘打，遠遠落後統一的 84 支以及 La New 的 71 支，整聯盟只贏了興農的 31 支；而第四棒全年只繳出了生涯第三低的 8 支全壘打（職棒 12 年 59 場 5 支；17 年因為變電箱事件只出賽 48 場打了 6 支），雖然以 3 成 91 破了 CPBL 打擊王的紀錄，不過打點只有 60 分，長打率 5 成 35；雖然打點與前面棒次的上壘率有關，但是對一個中心打者而言這個打點數字還是有點低，特別是對彭政閔這種打者而言。

另外就是前後棒次的掩護也很重要。今年比較常排在彭政閔前後的棒次就是陳冠任與陳瑞振，這兩個棒次全年加起來全壘打只有一支，這會讓對手在關鍵時刻刻意閃躲彭政閔，把傷害降到最低。雖然兄弟象今年以速度加上維持傳統的機關槍打線獲得年度第三，不過一棒擊沈對手的威脅感並不是用盜壘戰術就可以彌補起來的，這也就是為什麼即便身為象迷，賽前我也不看好不具備長打能力的兄弟象可以打進最後的總冠軍賽。

幸好，這些數據在第一場就被徹底推翻。彭政閔面對勝投王強森的第一個打席揮擊的第一球，正是最喜歡打的外角偏高速球，這一記 138KM 的直球被掃到右外野是很標準的「恰式」全壘打；這支全壘打看在象迷眼裡當然爽，但是並不是很意外的落點。不過第二支全壘打我相信可是讓許多象迷嚇了一大跳，除了面對強森連兩打席打出全壘打以外，最令人驚訝的是這是一顆並沒有失投的內角速球，竟然被一向不善於打內角球的彭政閔拉向了左外野！以往內角速球頂多是穿越三遊的一壘安打（印象中是打成游擊滾地比較多），這支全壘打的出現可以代表彭政閔當天的狀況真的好的不得了，我相信這支全壘打的出現讓 La New 在接下來的配球更為頭痛。第三個打席換成了左投對決，我覺得那也是一記失投球在外角高處進壘，被掃成第三支中右外野全壘打證明了當天第二打席的觀察，只是也想不到狀況竟然好到連三打席都是長打！無論右投左投、高的低的、內角外角都是全壘打：

我認為兄弟之所以可以連三清盤 La New 熊進入總冠軍賽，彭政閔第一場的連三打席全壘打非常重要，不僅僅是將 La New 對戰的氣勢壓下，更重要的是產生了火車頭的效應，提振了兄弟象一開賽的士氣不說，更是激勵了首次打進季後賽眾多年輕球員的鬥志！還有第二戰林明憲的逆轉兩分砲、第三戰陳致遠成功扮演第一棒的角色，這些球隊中生代的球員這次都有穩定軍心的表現，所以才會有年輕打線的優異演出以及投手的壓制；另外在季初轉到兄弟的曹竣崵對於不是很穩定的牛棚來說根本就是天上掉下來的禮物，第二場精彩的救援保住只有一分的勝利也是整個系列的大功臣，他與麥特對一向令人擔心的兄弟牛棚絕對扮演拉鋸戰的關鍵角色。

吃飽撐著研究委屈股

臺灣證交所在 9 月 8 日晚上發佈了一份「淨值高於 10 元、97Q2 有獲利及 9月 5 日收盤價低於 10 元」的「委屈股」名單。下午整個吃飽撐著沒事幹，把這九十幾檔的股票依照該份文稿的數據統統 Key 進 Yahoo 的投資組合，用來觀察一下這些建議名單的走勢。

首先是證交所的名單有錯誤。95 檔的股票裡面有兩檔：2403 友尚及 6112 聚碩在 9 月 5 日的收盤價分別為 19.35 與 13.70，並不是證交所所寫的 6.49 與 7.49；大概這也是為什麼最後見報的時候都只是說 93 檔而不是 95 檔委屈股的原因吧？

假設我用 9 月 5 日的委屈價把這 93 檔股票各委屈了一張，總共花掉我 713,460 元，截至今天為止市值為 570,190 元，總共虧損了 143,270 元，大約是 -20.08% 的績效；其中上漲的只有 4 家，89 家還在委屈中：

國安基金怎麼眼睜睜的看著這些股票繼續委屈呢？

PS: 9 月 5 日大盤收 6307.28，今天收 5020.44，成交量從 967.41 億萎縮到 448.84 億；總市值從 160930.46 億掉到 127632.57 億

別落入「數字」的陷阱

三聚氰胺的檢測標準究竟應該訂定在多少的濃度才算是安全範圍？聯合報今天以一篇「歐盟標準 0.5ppm」大話新聞錯得離譜來反駁，報導暗示三立大話新聞誤導民眾，錯將「人體每日容許量」當成「檢測限量標準」；看來，聯合報還是在玩文字遊戲。

進入世界衛生組織的首頁，看到在 9 月 29 日發佈的 New guidance issued on melamine levels in food，底下有一份 Guidance on melamine levels in food [pdf 70kb]，在 Page 4 Safety/Risk Assessment 裡面首先提到 FDA 對於三聚氰胺的檢測標準為 0.63 mg per kg of body weight：

The US FDA has published an interim safety/risk assessment on melamine and structural analogues and has established for melamine a tolerable daily intake (TDI) of 0.63 mg per kg of body weight per day.

In conclusion, EFSA provisionally recommends to apply a TDI of 0.5 mg/kg b.w. per day for the total of melamine and its analogues (ammeline, ammelide, cyanuric acid). Because of a lack of toxicity data in domestic animals, EFSA provisionally recommends to apply this tolerable intake level as established for humans also to domestic animals.

最後是 9 月 24 日的更新說明：An updated Statement of EFSA on risks for public health due to the presences of melamine in infant milk and other milk products in China has been issued on 24th of September.

這分聲明是這樣寫的：

The primary target organ for melamine toxicity is the kidney. There is uncertainty with respect to the time scale for the development of kidney damage. Thus, EFSA applied a tolerable daily intake (TDI) of 0.5 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) in considering possible health effects which might occur with repeated consumption of melamine contaminated products over a relatively short period.

再談，究竟什麼是 TDI (tolerable daily intake？什麼又是 ADI (acceptable daily intake)？報導中把 TDI 翻譯成「人體每日容許量」、「每日安全耐受量」、甚至為「每日攝取量」，究竟是否適當？

ADI 根據 WHO 的解釋：

ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake)
An estimate of the amount of a substance in food or drinking water, expressed on a body-weight basis, that can be ingested daily over a lifetime without appreciable risk (standard human = 60 kg). The ADI is listed in units of mg per kg of body weight.

看起來 ADI 是用來規範食品添加物的，而 TDI 呢？

TDIs are used for substances that do not have a reason to be found in food (as opposed to substances that do, such as additives, pesticide residues or veterinary drugs in foods- see ADI).

聽起來比較像是報導裡所講的每日安全耐受量吧！「每日攝取量」？！有誰每天吃塑膠的嗎？

講這麼多只是想要反駁聯合報，到頭來討論多少 ppm 才「合理」根本就是浪費時間的屁話，我想要講的是「感覺」。

為了原本就不應該出現在食物裡面的東西，訂一個 2.5ppm 檢測濃度，請問，檢驗過了你就真的敢吃嗎？這個「三聚氰胺」是為了使奶製品有高蛋白反應而被惡意添加的，請問這樣的食品來源，你相信只是個案、不會懷疑其他中國製造的產品是否也如法炮製的在原料裡面搞鬼？我相信應該沒人會拿自己的健康作賭注吧？

歐盟規定 2.5ppm 這種漫天大謊都講的出來，這些官員果然還活在沒有 Google 的年代

話說馬政府上任以來，一張老臉睜眼說瞎話已經不是個案，靠著兩大報替其昏庸無能的治國能力擦脂抹粉也不是什麼新鮮事，不過中午聽一則出自聯合報的新聞「歐盟公佈最新三聚氰胺容許量為 2.5ppm，紐西蘭甚至放寬至 5ppm」簡直是不敢相信！難道大家都錯怪林芳郁了？

首先釐清一下「什麼是 ppm」。ppm 全名為 parts-per-million 百萬分之一，Wikipedia 有一張 NOTATIONS FOR DIMENSIONLESS QUANTITIES 的圖表可以簡單的換算出 ppm 等於 mg/L 或 mg/kg 的關係。由於有些規定並不是以最近常聽到的 ppm 、而是以 mg/L 為檢驗單位，為了避免混淆所以先了解兩種單位之間的關聯。

聯合報在 9 月 28 日凌晨發佈一則新聞標題為：三聚氰胺容許量》紐國5ppm 歐盟2.5ppm，裡面提到歐盟將三聚氰胺的容許量訂定為 2.5ppm，標準與臺灣目前是一樣的，而紐西蘭的標準甚至是一倍的 5ppm；文中提到英國也採取 2.5ppm 這個「比較合理」的標準，而美國也會在不久的未來訂出標準。聽起來好像臺灣要求 0ppm 這個「不合理」的檢驗標準似乎是「不符合國際趨勢」而且「過份苛求」了；食品工業發展研究所長劉廷英也在另外一篇報導中幫已經請辭下台的前衛生署長林芳郁叫屈，認為這整起事件已經演變成為「政治與情緒問題」，要大家~~乖乖的喝毒奶~~別再伸手去左右檢驗標準了。

聯合報說實話了嗎？2.5ppm 真的是可容許的標準嗎？

首先是歐盟。European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) 在 9 月 25 日確實有提出一份對於三聚氰胺容許量的建議報告，內容提到 TDI (Tolerable Daily Intake) 不得超過 0.5 mg/kg（整篇聲明裡面並沒有提到 2.5ppm 這個數字）：

EFSA’s scientists today issued a statement saying that if adults in Europe were to consume chocolates and biscuits containing contaminated milk powder, they would not exceed the TDI (Tolerable Daily Intake) of 0.5 mg/kg body weight, even in worst case scenarios.

不過這個 2.5ppm 關鍵字倒是出現在英國；根據英國 Food Standards Agency 在 9 月 26 日 Update on melamine 提到：

All products from China containing more than 15% milk as an ingredient, or products where the percentage of milk content cannot be established, will be subject to documentary, identity and physical checks, including laboratory analysis, to determine that any levels of melamine present in the product do not exceed 2.5 mg/kg. Those products with more than 2.5mg/kg will be destroyed.

The Food Standards Agency works with port health authorities and local authorities to ensure EU controls are strictly enforced. There has been a longstanding ban on the import of milk and other products of animal origin from China as controls on the food industry in China do not meet the very strict requirements set in the EU.

怎麼回事？英國人比較不怕死嗎？有網友指出：

由於中國的食品工業不符合歐盟的嚴格規定，所以來自中國的牛奶及動物製品已經長期被禁止進口。看到這邊你會有個疑問, 既然都已經禁止進口了，為什麼還要驗呢？

原因在於，即使原產地不是中國的奶製品，還是有可能去使用中國的奶粉為原料而受到污染。舉例來說，假設某A國(非歐盟)進口了中國的奶粉來製成餅乾等產品，然後再賣到歐盟，原產地就會被標示為A國，因而躲過了歐盟對中國奶製品的禁令，成為食品安全上的漏洞。

所以，歐盟這次訂的這個標準，只是為了補上之前的安全漏洞，而不是為了要去有條件開放中國奶製品的進口，這和台灣的情況完全不能相提並論。因為台灣之前是允許中國奶製品直接進口的，歐盟在採行了這兩個措施互相配套之後，市面上將完全看不到任何中國的奶製品, 就連原料來自中國但在其他國家加工生產的漏網之魚都不會有，攝取量超過TDI的風險自然會被降到最低。但如果台灣只用人家拿來補漏洞的標準來做的話，可以想見市面上仍然會大量存在含有三聚氰胺的產品，攝取量超過TDI的風險也將會因此而大幅提高。
以上，釐清一下事實真相，以免有人被數字給誤導了。

再看美國 Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) 早在 2007 年五月就已經發佈的 Interim Melamine and Analogues Safety/Risk Assessment：

The point of departure (POD) is the NOAEL of 63 mg/kg/day from the rodent subchronic bioassay. This POD was then divided by two 10-fold safety/uncertainty factors (SF/UF) to account for inter- and intra-species sensitivity, for a total SF/UF of 100. The resulting Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) is 0.63 mg/kg bw/day. The TDI is defined as the estimated maximum amount of an agent to which individuals in a population may be exposed daily over their lifetimes without an appreciable health risk with respect to the endpoint from which the NOAEL is calculated.

FDA 在今年 9 月 23 日 FDA Updates Health Information Advisory on Melamine Contamination 聲明稿裡甚至直接建議消費者不要購買從中國製造的嬰兒乳製品：

In addition, the FDA is advising consumers not to purchase infant formula manufactured in China from internet sites or from other sources.

New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) 在 9 月 26 日也發佈的關於三聚氰胺容許量的聲明，內容提到在前一天 European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) 並沒有改變原先三聚氰胺的檢測標準，還是維持在 0.5mg/kg，並且提到這個數字「接近但略低於美國」的標準，間接證明了美國是有檢測標準在的：

“Over the past week, our scientists have been exchanging information with their international colleagues. Last night, the European Food Safety Authority updated its opinion on the estimated tolerable daily intake (TDI) of melamine and left it unchanged at 0.5 mg/kg bodyweight (ie, for every kg a person weighs they can safely consume 0.5 mg every day – for a 20 kg child this is 10 mg; for a 70 kg adult the safe amount is 35 mg).”

Based on this figure, which is very close to but lower than that of the United States, NZFSA has adopted a conservative threshold of 5 ppm for most foods. This means that it has been considered that foods containing up to 5 ppm of melamine do not pose a risk to human health. However for starter infant formula, this level will be set to the current level of test detection of 1 ppm.

只是，NZFSA 還是採取了「較保守」的 5ppm 作為三聚氰胺的檢測標準？仔細看一下這個所謂的「5ppm」是不得超過的「單日累積攝取量」，並且會視情況「有所行動」，跟聯合報提到的 5ppm 是不一樣的東西：

If NZFSA detects amounts above these levels, a risk assessment will be undertaken, taking into account how much melamine is in the food and how much is likely to be eaten in a day. If it is likely that anticipated consumption levels of the food will cause people to exceed the 0.5 mg/kg bodyweight tolerable daily intake, or there is a suspicion of adulteration, then the appropriate regulatory action will be taken.

林芳郁告訴我們 2.5ppm 才是「國際標準」，不過事實上似乎只有香港才是所謂的「國際」，一切標準都以中國為主，這不就是實質的 CEPA 嗎？換了葉金川更慘，他說以後只有「合格」與「不合格」兩種結果，檢測含多少三聚氰胺都不公佈了！這又是哪裡的「國際標準」？Google 前陣子才歡度十週年生日，換句話說，馬政府這批官僚在上次執政的時候，全球搜尋引擎才剛剛起步，資訊並不像現在這樣容易取得，所以可以輕易的跟媒體配合來誤導民眾就算沒有很強的搜尋引擎，還是可以很容易的連結到這種大型的官方網站查到相關資料；官僚們，時代不同了！

早上看到 Joseph 的 MSN 標題寫：「順利畢業！！！」，一問之下才知道原來總成績已經公佈了～雖然口頭上說一定沒問題，不過真的去查成績的時候還是心跳好幾百哪！

從學校的網頁登入、查詢成績....緊張....

首先看到的是總成績（分數我已經「處理」掉了），全部 180 個學分到手！爽！

再點進去看各科詳細成績（一樣，分數被我拿掉了），看到一串的 PASS 真是太開心啦！

等 Examination Board 承認過成績就可以順利畢業了！真想趕快看到畢業證書阿！哈哈哈哈哈

The "Embed Slideshow" function is not permitted if you're a British ?

昨天在寫遊記的時候發現新版本的 Picasa Web Album 裡面的 Embed Slideshow 功能消失了？！這功能是拿來偷懶寫格的好物阿！經過 Google 的結果，竟然在意想不到的地方找到把 Embed Slideshow 找回來的方法。

因為之前在英國唸書，所以對於英式英文比較習慣，所以我的語言選項一直都是選擇 English (UK) ；不過就在 Picasa Web Album 更新之後，很常用的 Embed Slideshow 這個選項就消失了。就算是連上 Picasa 的 Online Help 也只能查到舊版的使用說明，根本沒有提到為啥這個功能會不見。

不過，這點小事難不倒 Google 大神的！無意間找掉一篇發佈在 Picasa Discussions 裡面、有一位叫做 Mike Etherington 先是發佈了一個 How to embed slideshow in blogger 的問題：

Hi - the option to embed a slideshow into blogger seems to have dissappeared from the new picassa web albums layout. Can't find it anywhere. Is it gone? Can I embed slideshows in my (self hosted) blogger blog any more?

Tina 廚房月眉店

今天跟好久不見的大學同學們跑去大溪的 Tina 廚房，說是要幫我接風～偶而聚聚的感覺也是很好的，尤其是看到同學一個個都變成奶爸奶媽那種畫面真是有趣阿！

Tina 廚房聽說是因為偶像劇「微笑 PASTA」在此取景而走紅，餐點口味不差，份量也十分足夠；可惜他們的座位安排無法併桌，所以我們有三桌是「一家大小」桌，專門給當爸媽的同學跟小孩子；而我們就坐在「黃金死會」桌，跟另外三位「單身、但是已經死會」的同學一桌囉～

這是我點的起司藍帶豬排＋日式什麼飄的雞（名稱太長了，記不起來）

Ada 點的麻辣水煮魚，口味不錯

Strike 的泰式椒麻雞（還不賴，不過為啥有香菜....失敗）

Rose 的 .... 忘了 .... 有點像醉雞的冷盤，但是沒有酒味

Ivy 的 .... 也忘了 either .... 很有烤肉味道的雞腿排

現在流行吃東西前要先拍照存證

這五道菜我們其實吃不完，我的胃口果然變小了！以份量跟價位來說還算可以，不過令人不滿的是有兩個小時的用餐時間限制，害得我們一夥人吃完主餐以後、飲料與甜點必須要移到沒有冷氣的戶外吃，大大小小都熱的半死....幸好有跟店家要好幾壺的冰塊＋白開水＋蜂蜜，靠著侯董的「特調蜂蜜檸檬水」稍微解了點熱

這家賴媽媽豆花就是「巷子內」的人才會去吃的，躲在遊客不太可能會發現的騎樓裡....

小傢伙今天累壞了，趴在老爸的肩上就睡著了....

不負責數位單眼 (DSLR) 新手選購參考

近年來由於相機價格的不斷滑落，使得曾經是高不可攀的數位單眼相機 (DSLR) 變成了熱門的數位商品；由於生產數位單眼相機的利潤較一般消費性相機 (DC) 來得高，也成了眾知名相機廠的必爭之地，為了能夠維持市佔率及品牌價值，無不卯足全力的推出更新更好的機型來刺激廣大的消費群，這點可以從 M01 的相機版裡觀察得到，一點點的風吹草動都逃不過遍佈全球鄉民們的眼睛。

不過，就像每個成熟的消費性電子產業一樣，短的產品週期代表著消費者有多樣化的產品選擇，不過也間接的讓想要進入數位單眼領域的人更頭痛；最常見的問題就是：到底應該選擇哪一台好？由於數位單眼的構造與一般消費性相機不同，機身與鏡頭是必須要分開購買的，偏偏各家的鏡頭彼此不能相互通用；加上機身與鏡頭的單價較高，入錯陣營之後的代價也比較高（因為幾乎全部器材都不共用），所以如何在一開始就選擇到最適合自己的數位單眼就變成很重要的問題。

依照過去經驗，在這邊提出幾個應該要列為考量的因素，給想要跳入俗稱「錢井深」的數位單眼新手參考，希望能少走一點冤枉路（冤枉錢）。

一、品牌偏好
個人認為新手在選擇第一台數位單眼相機的優先考量是品牌。目前各大廠牌的數位單眼相機從入門到頂級機種都有很完整的產品線，品牌間定位在同一等級的機型彼此間的功能差異也不是很大，如果新手是某品牌的忠實愛好者，直接去挑一台預算內的相機吧！
如果沒有特定品牌偏好，看看身邊的好友們有沒有已經買了數位單眼相機，可以考慮跟他們買一樣的牌子、甚至同一個型號的相機。跟好友站在同一陣營，除了使用上的問題有免費諮詢專家以外，最重要的是你們的鏡頭可以共用～在這個「錢井深」的領域，使用單眼的年資與手上高檔鏡頭的數量是成正比的，好好的利用這項「優勢」吧！

二、二手市場的流通性
如果你是朋友間第一個買數位單眼的、又沒有特定品牌的偏好的話，我會建議你先去各大二手市場，看看幾個著名相機品牌的流通性如何，選擇高流通性的品牌對於日後想要購買二手器材、或者想將手上的設備脫手都會比較容易。

三、別掉入「高畫素」的陷阱
高畫素是一個很好的賣點，但是其實對於一般的使用者來說，除非你常常把相片洗成大張的海報，否則高畫素只是一個陷阱。這邊有一篇「淺談攝影　何謂 DPI」裡面提到，其實兩百萬畫素的相機就可以洗出 4x6 的相片了，一昧的去比較相機畫素意義實在不大。國外的專業攝影評比網站 DPreivew，今年七月起在相機的規格裡多加了一欄 Pixel Density，我認為現在購買數位相機（無論是單眼或者一般消費型），這個數字都是一個很重要的指標；簡單的說，這個 Pixel Density 跟相機的「雜訊」是成正比的，Pixel Density 數字越大代表相機在高 ISO 的時候雜訊也會越大。這也就是為什麼一般小相機（Pixel Density 都在 20 MP/cm² 以上）用 ISO 400 以上拍出來的照片雜訊都很大、而數位單眼（Pixel Density 通常不會超過 5 MP/cm²）即使用到 ISO 1600 甚至更高都還可以得到很乾淨的畫面。

四、想拍的主題是什麼
喜歡拍風景的人通常需要的是廣角鏡頭跟一隻很穩的腳架、喜歡拍以人物為主的人或許不需要腳架但是需要一隻閃光燈、喜歡花花草草生態攝影的除了很穩的腳架以外還要一隻微距鏡、喜歡拍鳥拍飛機的人需要的是長焦距的鏡頭....想要拍攝的主題不同，所需要的鏡頭跟週邊器材也會不同。不用過度迷信所謂的「鏡皇」，不是人人都需要恆定大光圈變焦鏡，也不用一開始就急著想要補足焦段（從廣角到望遠）。從最基本的 Kit Lens（通常是 18-55mm or 18-135mm 的焦段，光圈從 f3.5 起跳）也可以拍得很開心。

雖然我有特定的相機品牌偏好，不過寫這篇文章的時候刻意的不去提到任何相機品牌，嘗試用客觀的角度將所知道的幾個考慮點寫出來，希望能夠對想要加入數位單眼的新手們有點幫助，都能選到最理想的相機。

Studio 70, Goldsmith Court

這篇是用來紀念陪伴我將近一年的宿舍、人稱「黃金史密斯交誼廳」的 Studio 70。

去年九月剛搬進來沒多久，那時候正為了找宿舍煩惱中，沒想到不死心登記候補的我們很幸運的在登記後兩天接到通知說有一間 Studio 可以租。這裡要稱讚一下 Goldsmith Court 的員工；去年我因為正在上 pre-sessional 的課程，所以沒有接到通知有房間的電話；沒想到他們很盡責的發了一通簡訊，大意是說我的候補資格將會被保留到隔天中午，如果想要租房請儘速與他們聯絡～當然我一下客就衝過去拿鑰匙啦！也放棄了上禮拜繳給另外一間宿舍的 GBP 75 訂金。

這個撤退的早晨，印象中也是很早就起來，很怕最後的幾個小時無意識的過去了～

老外大概不像咱們是用油炒菜，所以不管是在共用廚房的 Flat 還是 Studio，一律配備這台連一張「衛生紙」都吸不起來的「抽油煙機」，噪音倒是很大～

兼具烤箱功能的微波爐，在 TESCO 買生雞翅回來用大火烤正反面各三十分鐘剛剛好（大蒜麵包則是大火八分半）

再眷戀這個留學的日子，也沒辦法改變該離開的事實，所以趁著最後關上門之前，再好好的回顧一下這個我不會忘記的房間。住了一年，總是有些感情在，何況這間被我戲稱為「交誼廳」的 Studio，舉凡聖誕、過年等大小節慶，幾乎都是台灣同學們聚餐的主要場地之一；要離開這個房間，代表的其實不只是學業的完成、同學的各奔東西而已，這一年的留學生活對我來說實在是奢侈的，對我來說更是人生的第二段黃金時期。所以，在要「退房」的那天早上，有種「這一年怎麼這麼快」的錯覺，讓我一直不想去面對真的該離開了這樣的事實。

Home Plug 電源線上網設備

利用電源線上網的這個技術其實好幾年以前就曾在 Mobile01 裡面看過有會員介紹這產品，簡單的說，Home Plug 就是把家中的電力線同時當成網路線使用，最大的好處當然就是不用破壞裝潢、不用在地板拉很醜的網路明線，只要有電源插孔，就可以讓網路輕鬆的連接到家中的各個房間。這篇[新知]把你家電源插座變成網路插座的HOMEPLUG有很詳細的介紹（2004 年 1 月的文章喔～可見這玩意不是現在才有的）

桃園家的社區網路孔是接在客廳，一直以來都是用 Linksys 的 Wireless + Router 來連接家裏面的兩台電腦，不過因為書房離客廳的網路點有點距離，收訊品質不佳不說，常常還會斷訊，一直都很想「徹底」的解決這個惱人的問題。畢竟社區已經升級為光纖網路，結果網路連線速度敗在自己家裏的設備實在說不過去～

從英國回來以後，不知道是水土不服還是吃 240V 習慣了，那台 Linksys 開始不正常的拼命掛點，連線速度也慢的比撥接還扯，這下讓我~~找到絕佳的敗家理由~~想起有 Home Plug 這產品完全符合我的需求，在訊問過 Google 以後，便在 PCHOME 敗了 ZyXEL NBG-318S 跟 PLA-470。

Home Plug 最大的致命傷應該就是不能夠跨電源迴路，不過很幸運的這兩台 Home Plug 可以連線，心中的大石總算是放下來了～接下來就是最關心的網路連線速度究竟有提昇多少？趕緊利用中研院的網路連線測試網頁測試一下....

我對這個測試結果挺滿意的～哈

實際使用了一個早上，只能說真的很爽啦！另外給 ZyXEL（合勤）拍一下手，這兩台 Home Plug 的產地都是台灣喔～

越欠越多

剛從瑞士回來，其實在這之前才去了北愛爾蘭，加上交誼廳熄燈文，一共有三大篇我想寫的東西還欠著；再過兩天就要回台灣了，也想來一篇一年英國感想文，不過在這些之前還有一篇價值超過一百萬的畢業論文等著我去完成....ㄟ害....

所以，這些都先欠著！（先去 Picasa 看照片吧～）

瑞士行 Day4：Matterhorn

素有「天下第一名峰」之稱的 Matterhorn，標高 4478m，位於瑞士西南部的義瑞邊界，以其獨特的「三角錐」造型聞名。大家最熟悉的「瑞士金三角巧克力」Tobrelone 就是以 Matterhorn 作為商標，可以說是除了瑞士白十字國旗以外，辨識度最高的代表物。

觀賞 Matterhorn 的最佳地點並不在主峰上，最熱門景點應該就是由 Zermatt 搭乘登山火車往標高 3089m 的 Gornergrat 了吧！全程只需大約四十分鐘車程，除了有視野極佳的觀景台跟遊客中心以外，完善的登山步道連接車站及湖泊更是吸引登山客前來健行，連我這不喜歡爬山的人，都抗拒不了誘惑去走了一段哪！

Gornergrat 的步道因為幾乎沿著火車路線建造並且連結每個車站，所以每一段的步道其實不會太長，路程大約都在一個小時以內就可以走完；仔細研究健行路線發現，在 Gornergrat 的前一站 Rotenboden 的健行路線上有兩個小的湖泊是被強力推薦的景點，所以看完旅遊書之後，我們打算先上到山頂 Gornergrat，之後在 Rotenboden 下車去看看那兩個美麗的湖泊，再走到 Riffelberg 搭火車下山。

Matterhorn 的觀光路線其實還有好幾條；在最西邊介於 3103m 的 Rothorn Paradise 與 2288m 的 Sunnegga Paradise 之間有一條更大型的登山步道，根據旅遊書說法總行程要將近四個小時；另外還可以搭纜車上到較東邊 3883m 的 Matterhorn Glacier Paradise，或者是坐到 Matterhorn 山腳下的 Schwarzsee Paradise (2583m)，前者是滑雪勝地，很多來避暑的歐洲客都是走這條路線；後者則是以最省力的方式到達最接近 Matterhorn 的地點，各有其優點所在。

前一晚的天氣預報是下午兩點開始變天，原本還是很擔心會不會一早就灰灰的....結果一早起床看到這景色，能不 High 嗎？我來啦！Matterhorn！

早餐是在民宿樓下自己經營的 Bar 吃，滿滿一桌的麵包～超豐盛！

配上現煮的熱咖啡跟熱牛奶，瑞士人懂得吃阿！不像某國只愛吃「屁」(Pea)

在 Zermatt 火車站的正對面，就是往 Gornergrat 登山火車的車站，憑 Swiss Pass 購票可以享有 50% Off 的折扣，所以是 CHF 38，真是便宜！（誤）很多遊客也是跟我們一樣起了大早，趁天氣好趕快上山去！跟昨天的少女峰一樣，當 Matterhorn 出現在窗外的時候，稱職的觀光客們也是驚呼連連，更拜數位科技所賜的快門猛按～（心理想：底片時代這邊不知道貢獻多少營業額給柯達跟富士）

登山火車有幾節是可以放腳踏車的，很多人坐車到山上在騎車下山也是很酷的～（新買的 Swiss Military 墨鏡派上用場）

一到了 Gornergrat 就看到兩隻聖伯納犬，旁邊的助理手上拿著瑞士跟日本國旗，台子的正後方就是 Matterhorn，原來這是專門跟日本團拍照用的。帶團的導遊會安排日本客一個一個（或一組）拍照，老外攝影師也會「請」「謝謝」幾句簡單日文、搭配鞠躬的身體語言討好日本客，生意好的很～

人客阿！丟系安捏啦！（不過這團好像不是日本團....）

這群是台灣＋香港客，趁著拍照的空檔搶拍（正在想業者怎麼願意讓遊客免費拍照的時候，剛才那位攝影師「很技巧」的走到兩隻狗的中間、又拍又捏狗的「破壞畫面」兼趕人）

在這種地方騎車真是太享受了


雖然有全景圖告訴遊客各山的位置跟名稱，不過 Matterhorn 實在太搶眼，搶眼到沒去研究其他山是啥....

這兩隻聖伯納一個呆坐著（母）、另外一隻（公）直接躺在地上不想起來，只用左手跟遊客玩～

在這站下車（到底叫 Rotenboden 還是 Riffelsee 阿？）

火車站一走出來就可以看到有一個小湖躺在 Matterhorn 的面前～湖面因為沒有風所以很平靜，可以隱約看到倒影耶！看樣子今天真是走運！趕快往湖面移動～

雖然只是個小小的湖，不過還是有一種「海天一色」的錯覺～好美阿！

依照書上所寫，在往下一點點還有另外一個更小的湖就在山腳邊，更容易因為山壁的屏障讓湖面不受風的影響、而看到更棒的倒影。所以在這個湖胡亂吃過土司當中餐以後，也是趁著一片白雲遮住山峰的空檔，我們就繼續往山下移動


我們在山腳下等了一個小時，沒想到那片白雲就是不散～後來才發現後面跟的就是天氣預報的烏雲，越來變天用的....再次證明早起鳥兒有蟲吃的道理，過中午才上山的遊客只能把金三角當作富士山來看了～

原本以為是蒲公英，派一個肺活量小的吹到死吹不下來才驚覺好像小看這植物了....

有點搞不清楚該往哪走～（其實三邊都可以，往左最近往下最遠，我們選擇往右）

可惜的是，前一天晚上我「以為」有把相機電池充飽，沒想到剛上山不久 P5000 就沒電了；我的 D80 也只剩一格的電力，幸好有驚無險的撐過 Gornergrat 跟 Rotenboden 以後才罷工～這種時刻遇到相機沒電應該會嘔到死吧！

回到 Zermatt 以後已經開始下陣雨了，不過時間還早，衝回房間拿出門前充電的電池，又跑到街上亂逛

經過昨天吃餐廳，還是忍不住在拍一下這家難得奢侈的地方


我們的目的地當然不是餐廳，而是這攤位在麥當勞正對面的德國香腸攤，一個牛肉香腸「只要」CHF 6，難怪稍早一堆人排隊～我們還怕晚來已經賣光了

經過前一晚的「重傷」，今天吃不起外食了；所以去 COOP（連鎖超市）買了麵包跟一罐當地人在喝的啤酒，回到民宿跟老闆要熱水泡帶過來的泡麵吃～這啤酒一點也感覺不出來是 5% 的酒精，跟讚不絕口的 1664 相比毫不遜色～CHF 1.9 的樣子，好喝！

在 Zermatt 更加的感受到瑞士的風情，這個小鎮在觀光與保育、商業化與自然環境取得微妙的平衡，讓到此地的遊客不自主的愛上這個純樸的小鎮；天下第一名峰 Matterhorn 果真名不虛傳（這句很武俠小說），親眼見到如此壯闊的美景真是不虛此行！雖然事後整理照片時發現沒有把現場的景色帶回來實在覺得很遺憾～真的，有機會一定要再來！

瑞士行 Day3：少女峰 (Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe)

位於阿爾卑斯山脈的少女峰，因為擁有全歐洲海拔最高的火車站（3454m），加上歐洲最大、已被列入世界遺產的冰河 Aletsch Glacier，從 1912 年少女峰路營運以來，這片面積一半以上海拔超過 2800m 的「歐洲屋脊」，每年吸引無數的登山客及愛好滑雪的遊客前來。

一大早起床看見天氣放晴，整個人都放鬆了下來，感謝天氣預報的準確，讓我們延後一天上山的決定沒有落空，今天可以看見整個周屋脊的全貌！

參考過旅遊書以後，我們買的登山車票是從 Interlaken Ost 向西出發到 Grindelwald，然後換車上到 Kleine Scheidegg，在換最後一段登山火車上到 Jungfraujoch；至於下山是從Jungfraujoch 坐到 Kleine Scheidegg 以後，改搭向東行駛的火車到 Lauterbrunnen，在下山回到 Interlaken Ost。整個行程是將少女峰地區繞一個順時鐘的圓，沿途可以欣賞到不同的風貌，當然也可以選擇由原路下山。我們走的是旅遊書建議的路線，在購票處票務人員也會主動跟你說上下山可以走兩種不同行程，使用 Swiss Pass 可以享有購票優惠，原價 CHF 195 的車票，打折過後是 108 CHF（如果是由原路下山的車票是 CHF 106，只差兩瑞法當然要走不同路線阿）

又一次來到有「世界最美麗村落」的 Grindelwald，不過只是來轉車並沒有停留；月台上很清楚的標示左邊為前往少女峰的火車，右邊是下山的班次

登山火車的鐵軌中間都會有另外一道鐵軌，這是為了坡度較陡的路線所設計的齒輪鐵軌

登山火車的另一大特色就是有著超大的玻璃窗，讓旅客可以一眼看見整個山脈雄偉的景色（旅客來來去去，這登山火車車廂內還是乾淨的像第一天營運一樣）

車廂內傳出各國的驚呼聲～原來是「少女們」露臉了！

到了 Kleine Scheidegg，遇到阿爾卑斯山名產：聖伯納犬


這是往少女峰的最後一段登山火車，一度對那片白茫茫的晨霧擔心了一下，好在上山以後就退掉了


由於上山火車每半個小時就有一班，所以我們決定在搭下一班火車，先在這個車站附近走走～我們繞到車站的後方發現到一大片的山谷，可惜一早霧氣太重，沒有辦法看到整個山谷的景色。

車來了～表示下一班往少女峰的火車也快要開了，搭車去！

最後一段的火車大部分都是在隧道裡面，這是進隧道前在車上看到少女峰的樣子，當然還伴隨著各國的驚嘆聲～這段火車還有一個貼心的設計，就是他的窗戶是可以打開的，這樣大家在拍照的時候才不會拍到一堆玻璃反射～真是設想週到阿！

最後一段登山火車就是在這種山洞裡面走，途中還會經過兩個室內的觀景台：2865m 的 Eigerwand 跟 3160m 的 Eismeer，到達前車廂內就會開始用多國語言廣播說我們現在即將到達某站，海拔多高，會在這裡停五分鐘給大家下車拍照，也包含中文廣播喔～所以不用怕錯過啦！

到達 Top of Europe 了！

下車以後就可以看到指示牌，一邊往天台，一邊是冰宮，另外一邊是餐廳～時間因為接近中午，所以一同上山的旅行團都直接帶去餐廳吃飯了，我們這種啃土司的窮人就不用去看價目了，直接往天台方向前進吧！

上到天台，忽然間整個豁然開朗！一邊是少女峰主峰，一邊則是冰河，真有一種站在世界最頂峰的錯覺！加上天氣放晴，真的大呼值回票價！照片不足以呈現現場的美阿！

不過為啥降半旗咧？

肚子餓了，進來室內啃土司配風景～真愜意阿！

這冰宮比戶外還冷，而且地板很滑很滑～

其實少女峰車站滿大的，剛才只是到地圖左側的天台而已，另外一邊還有一個 360 度的觀景台，而且是搭建在陵線上～視野很好，不過心跳指數也是很高啦！有電梯可以直達觀景台，過去看看吧！

這隻狗後來發現他自己站在騰空的台子上以後就拉不動了～

因為晚一點要移動到 Zermatt，大約需要兩個小時的火車，所以我們選擇早一點上山，然後就可以早一點的下山搭火車；在我們逛完大部分的少女峰車站及觀景台以後便心滿意足的準備下山，不過在車站碰到一堆人都不排隊的硬擠上車，覺得很討厭～

這登山火車怎麼看起來好像在笑？

這群野山羊其實上山的時候就有碰到，沒想到他們直接就在土產店門口休息起來，一點都不怕人～（不怕變成土產嗎？哈哈哈）

下山因為坐到第二班加開的火車，所以座位非常的空～剛好可以讓我盡情的一下左邊一下右邊開窗拍照


跟我們同車廂還有一對日本夫婦帶兩個兒子來玩，注意他手上的「機絲」跟我的一模一樣喔！至少 1.2KG 的設備硬是拿起來幫他爸媽拍照～他還有半按快門對焦才拍哩！（不過遮光罩＋內閃＋18mm，照片下半部會被遮光罩擋到變黑的....這是他老爸的錯～哈）

因為 Easter 來的時候就很想買一隻 Swiss Military 的太陽眼鏡，所以回到 Interlaken Ost 以後，雖然只剩半個小時左右，我們還是快走前進去當地的一間「瑞士刀刃中心」買了我想要的太陽眼鏡。原本以為這間旅遊書有介紹的店會賣得比較貴，沒想到在比完價以後發現他是 Interlaken 賣 Swiss Military 太陽眼鏡最便宜的！其他商家售價為 CHF 66.5 ~ 68 都有，而這家通通 CHF 65～老闆娘是一個理平頭超酷但是超親切的德國人（我猜的），我們 Easter 的時候也有來跟他買一頂帽子，也是比其他家便宜喔！

腳踏車也要遮雨棚阿！而且大部分路邊的腳踏車....沒鎖....瑞士沒有小偷嗎？

買完太陽眼鏡，還要繞道民宿拿寄放的行李，時間不多了！不過再趕也要跟這家民宿照張像！我們還跟老闆說有機會一定要再來！大推！

一路狂奔以後，總算是趕上火車了！再見了～Interlaken！有機會我一定會再來的！

經過將近三個小時車程，我們到達了 Zermatt，裡用車站旁的 Information 查一下我們訂的民宿怎麼走。真不愧是高度觀光發展的國家，在每個大車站裡面都會有設置這種查詢飯店或餐廳的機器，旁邊看板上則是代碼，只要把代碼輸入，就會有地圖顯示目標位置在哪，這樣即使像我們第一次來的觀光客也不用怕找不到飯店，真的是很替觀光客設想阿！

根據瑞士旅遊觀光局的網頁，Zermatt 是一個位在 Matterhorn 山腳下的著名觀光勝地；在考量到環境污染的因素下，Zermatt 當地是禁止任何機動車進入，取而代之的是電動車及馬車。果然，我們一出火車站看到的就是一輛一輛的電動車還有馬車，雖然到處都是觀光客，不過可以感覺出來這是個生活很悠閒的小鎮。

Zermatt 其實不大，氣氛上就是一個接待有錢觀光客的地方，可以很放心的走在路上，感覺就像是到另外一個世界一樣～

我們訂的民宿號稱「每個房間都可以看到 Matterhorn」，所以我們到達的時候發現窗戶跟山是相反的方向其實有點失望；不過後來發現原來走出去陽台就真的看得到 Matterhorn 了！只是烏雲把山峰擋住了～希望明天給我好天氣吧！

原本打算晚餐吃麥當勞的，結果發現一個漢堡（不是套餐喔）就要價 CHF 11，折合台幣三百多阿！這價位實在吃不下去，拍拍照就閃人了～

結果為了省 CHF 11 的漢堡，我們跑去隔壁、桌上有蠟燭裝飾的餐廳吃牛排～花了 CHF 81.8 .... 不過這牛排真是好嫩，有夠好吃的啦！好久沒有吃這麼豪華的餐了，一步小新舊給他吃到餐廳快打烊才走（開玩笑，那麼貴至少也多坐一會嘛）

吃完晚餐大約已經晚上十點，街上的商店幾乎都關門了。不過所謂的「關門」也不過就只是把正門關起來而已，展示台的燈還是亮著的，我們就一路 Window Shopping 的把所有展示的錶看過一遍；越看越覺得不可思議：隨便一面櫥窗展示的錶加起來都幾十萬瑞法，怎麼晚上就這樣燈火通明的？治安真的有好成這樣阿！而且當地沒有看到警察局耶～

每一間商店都像這樣，只有把大們關起來而已，玻璃櫥窗還是燈火通明，而且不用鐵窗等防盜設備（這張我在拍 Lecia M8，七千七瑞法左右）

這一小區就超過十萬瑞法了


匯率是 1:30 左右，畫面上的數字乘上 30 就是台幣～

這都是同一家擺的，最便宜的也要五十萬台幣阿

看完才那些，這只 TISSOT 「只要」CHF 1695 就一點感覺都沒有了～便宜阿！（大誤）

DUCATI 跟 OAKLEY 合作的太陽眼鏡～印象中好像也要上百瑞法

Zermatt 當地似乎流行木雕？做的很精緻～

跟 Interlaken 比起來，Zermatt 更有瑞士的味道，是一個更安靜悠閒的小鎮；我們覺得可以由當地的餐廳來看出這裡的觀光定位就是在高消費的族群。Interlaken 韓國人多到 Information Centre 有一個窗口是講韓文，在 Zermatt 日語到處可見；還有一點就是 Kebab，在去過的一些城市裡面幾乎都會有賣 Kebab 的店，不過在 Zermatt 就是沒有這種東西（所以才害我們要吃八十幾塊的牛排），這大概也是 Zermatt 一種定位的策略吧！

瑞士行 Day 1＋2：Interlaken

趁著今年還可以用台灣護照＋英國簽證去瑞士，冒著畢業論文寫不完的風險，還是又跑了一趟瑞士；這次的目的地只有少女峰（Jungfrau）跟馬特洪峰（Matterhorn）。前者有全歐洲海拔最高的火車站；著名的「瑞士金三角」巧克力則是用後者當作商標，都算是瑞士必到的觀光景點吧！

第一天我們從 EMA 飛到瑞士日內瓦機場，因為之前來過瑞士，知道他們的火車超級準時，原本很擔心機場萬一離火車站很遠的話，我們會趕不上八點到達 Interlaken 的火車；害我們一下飛機就狂奔到售票口買三天彈性的 Swiss Pass（CHF 212 per person），然後依照指示準備往月台衝刺以後才發現，原來月台就在售票口旁邊不到一分鐘的距離....

聽說瑞士的阿兵哥都很厲害的樣子....原來也是要睡覺喔？

我們訂的民宿老闆說他們離 Interlaken Ost 大約十分鐘的路程，但是我們把 Ost 跟 West 這兩站記反，所以當我們在 West 下車然後沿著地圖去找民宿的路上還邊走邊罵說：這怎麼可能十分鐘就到？事後證明是我們兩個人耍寶了～

大概是離市中心比較偏僻的關係，這一天民宿並沒有住滿，我們也很幸運的拿到一間三人房；在擁擠的英國住久了，看到這麼許久不見的大房間實在很興奮～

民宿還在枕頭上放著名的瑞士巧克力，後來我們在山上餓了就靠這幾條巧克力了～

要特別的「ㄡ樂」一下這家民宿；大概是因為陽光這種東西對歐洲人來說是奢侈品，不像我們洗完衣服或被單會拿去曬太陽，那種「太陽的味道」在英國一年沒聞過，不過我往床上一躺～哇賽！好軟的床喔～而且，有陽光的味道！鄉民語：大推！

隔天早上從房間的陽台望出去，天氣果然如預報的多雲，這天氣上山沒搞頭阿！

要上山當然要選天氣好的日子才有 View 阿！所以我們打算相信天氣預報說的明後兩天是好天氣，今天就在 Interlaken 舊地重遊吧！

這個才是比較近的 Interlaken Ost，往少女峰的登山火車由此站發車。為了隔天可以早點上山，我們這天就先買好票了，用 Swiss Pass 可以有折扣，不過還是花了我們一個人 CHF 108，交通費真是貴阿～

一直走路腳實在很酸，在路邊的咖啡廳坐一下吧！

這火車其實已經進站停好了，整台火車長到車頭進站車尾剛好就過平交道～

本來打算去 West 後面的湖邊，所以我們從 Ost 一路走到 West；不過到了以後才發現不會走....加上看起來好像 Ost 那邊離另外一個湖比較近，所以我們就往回走


要往 West 那邊的湖的觀光遊艇，馬車都坐不起的我們當然只有在旁邊送船出港的份～（不過這船怎麼一路打 R 檔出去？）

再往回走的路上，發現國旗！人在國外看到國旗怎是會想要拍張照～不過怎麼不像其他國家一樣是整面的，難道被綁住了？

走進看才發現：原來是被旗竿上的倒勾給勾住了（旗竿上幹嘛要有倒勾咧？）

當下就用雨傘「拯救」了一下


一些背景設定為中古世紀的電玩，裡面常常會看到 TARVEN 這個字，跟我的名字的關係是 4A2B；不過在路上我碰到了這個 5A 的字：TRAGEN，這個字型讓 G 看起來更像 V，感覺就更像我的名字～

雨中又回到了 Ost，在車站對面的超市買了一些麵包止餓，路過賣雞腿的熟食攤抗拒不了香味，花了 CHF 4 買了這隻小雞腿....在啃得過程還碰到一個韓國人，大概因為他的小孩子看到我們在啃雞腿也吵著要，所以過來問我們雞腿哪裡買～

啃完雞腿繼續往東走，雨也開始越下越大

車位沒啥了不起，家裏有「船位」才夠屌～

終於到了最近的出「湖」口～雖然天氣不好，不過當下還是很壯觀的

這張是想拍出湖水的清澈感，可惜失敗了....請自行想像～

我們到湖邊以後沒多久天氣就越來越差，不僅下雨而且還刮風，所以拍了幾張照片以後我們就往回走了；當天晚上我們又從 Ost 走到 West 只為了買便宜的 Kebab 當晚餐，所以我們「又」走了一次 Interlaken City；前一晚才在佩服隔壁的西班牙背包客在少女峰山上走了七個小時，結果我們這一天也從早上十點一直走到晚上六七點才回到民宿休息；不過傍晚下大雨的天氣實在讓人擔心隔天的「太陽」預報準不準（好消息是：這一天下雨預測得很準，希望明天也要一樣準阿！）

交誼廳即將熄燈

早些在噗浪已經發了一篇小感慨文，無病呻吟一下～這將是號稱「黃金史密斯交誼廳」的 Studio 70 租約最後二十四小時，發個極短文紀念一下這間住了將近一年、候補排到的宿舍。

話得從去年八月開始的語言課講起，不過現在正在拼論文，這時間拿來寫回憶錄實在太奢侈，先把剛才噗的話拿來當總結擋著先：

畢竟是住了一年的房間，雖然常常被窗外的搖滾樂吵，不過這一年來交誼廳的角色也是很稱職阿～想到明天就是租約最後一天，還是會有一點不捨哩

Plurk 自訂 CSS

最近迷上 Plurk，這種微型部落格原來魅力就在於你一句我一言的亂入阿！關於 Plurk 的介紹很多前輩們已經寫了很詳細的說明，因為寫的也不可能比他們好，所以如果要了解 Plurk 是啥的初學者，直接去下列的格可以得到很詳細的說明～

首先是入門級：三分鐘上手 Plurk，訊息不再亂糟糟 by Dogg。這篇文章是針對完全新手的簡易使用手冊，文章最下面的「相關連結」可以逛逛～

然後是輕輕鬆鬆玩 Plurk - 噗浪教學二連發 by 妙子：入門教學一、入門教學二。從註冊到常用語法都有很清楚的介紹～看完功力大增！

之後再配上 JiaYun 的兩篇爽爽文：這樣才爽、這樣更爽，真是一整個不可自拔阿！爽爽爽～

最近 Plurk 改版以後，開放了 CSS 這個自訂版面的功能；幾乎就在開放功能的同時，一堆 CSS 高手就把他們自己的衝浪板改裝讓眾人膜拜～貪新鮮的我也在觀望幾天後去偷了一個版面回來用（忘記是從哪位噗友的格抄來的，找到苦主我會立刻把 reference 補上的）其實我對 CSS 這玩意一點都不懂，不過之前在改 Blogger 的版型的時候有 trial & error 的測試過，加上各家部落客的說明（其實就是 copy & paste）很快的我也有了一個自訂的版型啦～以下就是我的 CSS：

對於整天掛在上面的我來說，改一個花俏的衝浪板真是害死自己....不過噗浪的魅力絕對不只是如此而已，它絕對有足夠的能力讓使用者廢寢忘食～想了解「個人造業個人擔」的奧義嗎？從這邊開始墮落吧！（將會自動成為我的好友，不用怕一個人孤單啦～）
