終於搞定 Ubuntu 8.10 的音效設定

困擾了一個多月的問題，找到解決的辦法了！我的 ASUS F8Vr 自從裝上了 Ubuntu 8.10 以後，這台 P8600 跑 Vista 都算順暢，更不用說系統規格要求更低的 Ubuntu 了。不過沒有音效這個問題讓我困擾到想放棄 Ubuntu；一直到剛才終於讓我找到解決的辦法。

I don't wanna roll back again

It has been more than two months since I installed and used Ubuntu as my major operation system this May. I'm so satisfied with its performance and stability; more, I don't need to concern about the virus inflection when I'm surfing on the Internet. Even, the screen display is more pretty than Windows. The best thing is, I don't need to pay a cent to anyone of using this OS or applications it embedded because they are free for charge!

emesene 更新顯示名稱

這兩天的 emesene 突然變得很奇怪，想要改暱稱都會出現：Nick could be be changed. Invalid Application Header Application ID is either not defined in database or blocked from access. 原本以為是微軟偷偷動手腳把 3rd party 的 application 擋住，不過在問過 google 以後可以確定是錯怪他們了～

在 Ubuntu 下用 Ramdisk 加速 Firefox3

話說 Firefox 真的是好物一枚，有很多套件可以自行安裝不說，開放式的設計讓使用者可以針對自己的硬體環境作微調，以達到最佳的效能 (最近 Plurk 多了，廢話也跟著多了起來)

My Ubuntu Life: Firefox Fonts Setting

Ubuntu has boundled the hotest web browser "Firefox" as its default browser. I have used it since its first released version and happy with its performance and hundreds of add-on repositories it provided. But a tricky thing was bothering me: font setting. Firefox provides various font settings corresponding to different encoding webpages. Users can easily change those setting via Menu->Edit->Preference->Content->Fonts & Colours. However, there is NO Unicode-related setting while UTF-8 encoded pages are surfed.

I have started using Ubuntu as my default running OS and I'm veeeeeeeeeery satisfied with it! In further I did lots of "tweaks" on it in order to improve its performance. Because my laptop is old and has insufficient resources to use, these fine tunes are particular tricky to me. There is nothing new but information from advanced Ubuntu users online. Here we go:

Linux is not a new OS system to me. I used to be a workstation administrator when I went to collage. In that age, using UNIX or UNIX-Like system was required many relevant knowledge. It was so difficult to use so that I can still remember how exciting I was when I successful installed Chinese-Language-Supported programs onto my workstation. But now, things change!
